What is Bloomsday? THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS Bloomsday celebrates Thursday, June 16, 1904, the day depicted in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses. Famous for its innovative style, stream of consciousness technique, and extremely frank, very amusing, and often controversial language, Ulysses takes us through a day in the life of Leopold Bloom, an Irish Jew. We are the largest Bloomsday festival in Canada with event-filled days that stretch over an entire week. We bring down the curtain on Bloomsday itself — June 16. Over the years, festival-goers have come to enjoy an expanding variety of educational, cultural, and social events. Donate Your individual donation means direct support for… • More events in more locations. • Varied expert speakers, performers and writers. • Community-building and education. Volunteer In 2016, volunteers gave 1,650 hours of their time to organize, communicate and provide the technical support we needed to plan the Festival and make sure it ran smoothly.
