Hsbc La Sevens – Round 5 of the Hsbc World Rugby Sevens Series to Take Place in Los Angeles Starting in 2020 at Dignity Health Sports Park HSBC LA SEVENS – ROUND 5 OF THE HSBC WORLD RUGBY SEVENS SERIES TO TAKE PLACE IN LOS ANGELES STARTING IN 2020 AT DIGNITY HEALTH SPORTS PARK The Largest Annual Rugby Event in the United States will be held in Los Angeles and Feature the World’s Best 16 Teams February 29-March 1, 2020. LOS ANGELES, CA (October 15, 2019) – HSBC LA SEVENS, part of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series will take place February 29-March 1, 2020 in Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park, it was announced today by Dan Lyle, Director of AEG Rugby. The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments taking place over 10 global cities including Paris, London, Hong Kong and Sydney, and featuring national teams from the top 16 countries. The US leg of the international series, most recently held in Las Vegas, now moves to Los Angeles for the next 4 years and will be the largest annual rugby event in the United States. Tickets will be released for sale to the public on Wednesday October 16th. Dignity Health Sports Park, home of the NFL’s LA Chargers and MLS LA Galaxy, and future host venue for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games, will host the two-day event with over forty games providing more than 8 hours of play each day, as well as a fan festival showcasing international food, music, culture and entertainment for fans throughout each day. Another unique component of the 2-day event, is the grassroots community tournament, the Los Angeles Invitational, which will take place on the outer fields around the stadium, with 300 community teams playing in co- ed divisions of youth, high-school, college and adult clubs. The HSBC LA SEVENS is expected to draw a weekend attendance of over 45,000 international rugby fans. The United States Men’s Sevens National Team, currently ranked #2 in the world, will be one of 16 of “the world’s best” national teams competing in the HSBC LA SEVENS, also featuring: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, Kenya, Samoa, Fiji, Japan, Canada, and the 16th team still to be determined, which will be another team that has already qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, but not already part of the core series teams. The HSBC LA SEVENS will bring passionate fans from across the USA and around the world, to spectate and celebrate at the round-robin tournament. Los Angeles will now play host to the fast and intense competition with high scoring games, which coupled with the electricity of the spirited international fans, provides a unique and memorable event for all spectators. The event is also expecting celebrities from the world of television, film and music, along with top athletes from every sport who are also rugby fans, and fans of their national teams to be in attendance to support their teams and countries. As noted, currently ranked as the #2 team in the world, Team USA has already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. The HSBC LA SEVENS event will also offer a preview of a world championship event in advance of the 2028 LA Olympic Games, in the same venue where the Olympic Rugby competition will take place. During the USA Sevens tournament, he scored three tries and six conversions and was named to the tournament’s Dream Team. This was Hughes first time being selected to a Dream Team. Hughes’ performance throughout the season has him leading the U.S team in tackles and points scored and he also is in the top ten worldwide for both categories at the halfway point of the 2014-2015 season. A native of London, England, Hughes was introduced to rugby at the age of seven. He excelled in the sport and eventually began playing for the Dartmouth rugby team upon starting college there. Participation in rugby worldwide has increased 19% since the last Rugby World Cup in 2007. Participation figures are highest in Europe, but there are significant numbers of players elsewhere, with increasing numbers in emerging markets.     Sport Programme Confirmed For Trinbago 2021 The Sport Programme for Trinbago 2021 has now been confirmed with eight exciting sports set to feature at the Commonwealth Youth Games next year.     2017 TRU Hall of Fame Celebration Charles L. Erhardt started playing rugby with the Houston RFC in 1969 when he was a law student at University of Houston. Chuck was an avid and enthusiastic player, and began refereeing with enthusiasm that drove him to the very top of that endeavor not only in Texas but also within the Western RFU and beyond. Chuck was eulogized by all the major refereeing organizations upon his recent and sudden demise in October 2014. Lee was involved in rugby for 20 plus years. His major contributions to Texas Rugby were as a club founder, coach and administrator. He was among a group of pioneers that help expand rugby in Texas that ultimately led to the formation of the TRU. In 1962 Lee started his rugby career as a player for the St. Louis Bombers. In the mid-1960's he moved to Houston and in 1969 he help formed the Houston Rugby Club along with Gail Tennant, Wayne Baxter, and Jim Savage. A club that still exists today after it merged with the Houston Old Boys. In 1972 Lee broke off Houston Rugby Club to form the Houston Old Boys. A club that became one of the TRU powerhouses that won many tournaments and TRU Championships. Lee coached many players who would go on to play for the TRU, Western RFU and the USA Eagles. He was the coach of Barry Waite, Texas HOF member, who was the first TRU play to player for the Eagles against France in 1976. In 1973 Lee was selected by the TRU to be the first select side coach and led the team to a near victory against the Impala Rugby Club from Nairobi, Kenya.

Forty-one studies were sourced from the electronic database of PubMed, Google Scholar and SPORTDiscus. From these, twelve original investigations were included in this review. Positive match outcomes are the result of an interplay of successful physical, technical, and tactical performances. The physical performance of players (activity profile measurement from GPS) includes high relative total distance and high-speed distance values in comparison to other team sports. The technical performance of players (skill involvement measurement from match statistics) involves the execution of a range of specific offensive and defensive skills to score points or prevent the opponent from scoring. The factors influencing change in these performance constructs has not been investigated in rugby sevens. There is a paucity in the literature surrounding the situational and individual factors affecting physical and skill performance in elite rugby sevens competition. Future studies should investigate the factors likely to have the strongest influence on player performance in rugby sevens.

This modified, non-tackling version of Sevens CARNIVAL is called Touch 7s. Students can now play the real thing and put into practice the knowledge, skills and values learnt during the Field Skills Sessions. For trainers to distinguish between events that are more likely to lead to a successful match outcome is a difficult task. Success factors are Performance Indicators (PIs) that were significantly prominent during matches won when compared to matches lost and most likely contributed to a successful match outcome.
