Anthony Mosse Classic 2021 BARTER CARD ANTHONY MOSSE CLASSIC (25m) West Wave Aquatic Centre, Alderman Drive, Henderson Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th January 2021 Admission: $3.00 per session Children 12 & under free entry. Anthony is one of New Zealand’s most successful athletes in any sport and his record of achievement should be an inspiration to every Auckland Swimmer. A member of the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame, he is a multiple Commonwealth Games medallist, Olympic medallist, World Champs medallist, Auckland Swimmer of the Century and the holder of various Auckland and NZ National records, many of which stood for a generation. Beyond his success in the pool, Anthony’s life has been an example of continuing achievement with an outstanding academic, international commercial and media career. Anthony is well-known to a new generation of athletes for his interesting and knowledgeable presentation as a television commentator at many international swimming events, including the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. The Barter Card Anthony Mosse Classic is now an annual feature of the Auckland Swimming calendar. It is an annual event, ideally timed before the SNZ Junior Festival, SNZ Div 2, Auckland Age Groups and SNZ NAGS, The 2021 Anthony Mosse Classic is open to Auckland registered competitive swimmers, SNZ High Performance Swimmers, Para Swimmers and International Teams. Eligibility: Entries are open to all ASA registered competitive swimmers who have achieved the qualifying times. Entries are also open to all Registered SNZ High Performance swimmers, Para swimmers, International teams and Harlequin Zone swimmers subject to the qualifying criteria. Closing Date: Closing date for ASA swimmers, SNZ High Performance swimmers and Para swimmers is Monday 11th January 2021 at 11.59 pm Closing date for International competitors is Tuesday 15th December 2020 at 11.59 pm Age: Age as at 22nd January 2021. Swimmers to contest their own age group. Individual Entries: Each individual swimmer may only enter a Total of Six Events. Please note this restriction does not apply to international swimmers. Converted times can be used. All entry times must be achieved within the qualifying period to enter. Except for athletes with a current IPC classification, non-qualifying times (NQT) will not be accepted 400 Free 13/U and 14/O will be restricted to the Top 16 Male and Female ASA Swimmers 400 IM & 200 Fly These are designated 12/O events and will be restricted to the Top 32 Male and Female ASA and International entrants. 12/U Tech Suit Restriction: PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ASA TECH SUIT RESTRICTION POLICY APPLIES TO ALL 12/U SWIMMERS. If in doubt please get your Team Manager to check with the Technical Director BEFORE the start of the session Entries: To be entered directly into the SNZ Database LATE ENTRIES WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASA RULE R8.6.2. The fee for a late entry shall be $50 per entry. No late entries will be accepted in the Control Room without payment of the correct fee. Entry Fees: Individual Entries: ASA Registered Swimmers $12.00 per entry incl. GST. Non ASA Registered Swimmers $14.00 per entry incl. GST. Payment to be made via credit/debit card at time of entry. Payment by clubs: Direct Credit Account number 12-3011-0757520-00 Ref: AMC Code: Please use club abbreviation e.g. AKLME Withdrawals: NO REFUNDS for any withdrawals (including medical) will be given once entries have closed. All withdrawals for Session 1 are to be received at the Auckland Swimming office by noon Thursday 22nd January 2021. Withdrawals for Sessions 2, 3, 4 and 5 must be into the AOD control room before the conclusion of the preceding session. Penalties: R.8.10.2 A Penalty Fee of $25 per timed final will be charged for late or non-withdrawals regardless of circumstance (including medical) 2021 AMC Protests: Protest fee = $100. Payable upon submission of correctly completed protest form. Athletes with a Disability: The ASA has a “mainstreaming” policy relating to athletes with a disability. Athletes who hold an IPC Classification are eligible to participate in this programme and will be seeded amongst able-bodied athletes on the basis of entry times. It is the responsibility of the athlete with a disability (or their Team Manager) to inform the Referee before they swim of their IPC Classification and to supply the Referee with their IPC Classification Card. The Referee will use their best efforts to judge the swim under the applicable IPC Rules. Timed Finals: All events will be swum as timed finals Starts: ‘Over the Top’ starts will be used and the FINA One Start Rule (SW 4.4) will apply. Marshalling: There will be no marshalling. Swimmers are to marshal themselves at their lane just before the start of their event. No races will be delayed if swimmers fail to appear for their event. Failure to report on time will result in a ‘non- withdrawal’ penalty Pool Deck Passes: All swimmers, managers and pool side officials must display an ASA accreditation card.

TO INSPIRE Front cover: World leaders in sport sixty years ago Marise Chamberlain was a track athlete who broke or equalled world 400 metres and 440 yards records over three successive years 1957- 59; she also won the bronze medal in the 800 metres at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, the only track medal won by a New Zealand woman at an Olympics. She also set unofficial world records over a mile and 1500 metres and was second in the 880 yards at the Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962. Pip Gould set world records for the 200 metres and 220 yards backstroke at the Newmarket Pool in Auckland in 1957 and the following year set world 100 metres and 110 yards records. She remains the only New Zealand swimmer to set world record times in long-course pools. She won the bronze medal in the 110 yards backstroke at the Empire Games in Cardiff in 1958.
