The QVA proved to be outstanding hosts of the 2009 FIVB Men’s Club World Volleyball Championships, which made a return af- ter four editions from 1989-1992. However, the 2010 edition of the FIVB Club World Championships, with the dates due to be confirmed, signals the return of the double gender event after 18 years and for the first time will feature alternate men’s and women’s matches in the same venue on the same day. Rome, which will also be the venue for the 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Champion- ships, hosted its first ever SWATCH FIVB World Tour event last year, with men’s teams from around the world battling in the historic capital. On that occasion, eventual World Tour winners and world champions Julius Brink and Jonas Reck- ermann of Germany came out on top. However, this year the city will be the backdrop for one of the six Grand Slams on the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour, with other hosts including Moscow in Russia, Stavanger in Norway, Gstaad in Switzerland, Klagenfurt in Austria and Stare Jablonki in Poland.

She led her country to a 3-2 victory over world champions Russia in their final match, scoring 20 points, as the Dutch put the finishing touches to a perfect record in the final round. “The Flying Dutchwoman” Flier was airborne throughout the tournament. She finished in second place in the scoring charts with 101 points. She claimed joint-second place in serves and second place in successful spikes. The 23-year-old had the crowd enthralled during the tournament as she led her team to their first-ever major trophy in international competition. Flier, who speaks English, German and, of course, Dutch, gave Italy (she also speaks Italian) a lesson in attacking Volleyball when she scored a game- high 30 points in the Netherlands’ victory between the two sides in the final round.

    Cartella Stampa World Grand Prix 2014 1-17 agosto a cura dell’Ufficio Stampa Fipav La formula della 22ª edizione La 22esima edizione del World Grand Prix si presenta con una nuova formula, grazie alla quale saranno coinvolte 28 squadre nazionali suddivise in tre fasce: dodici nella prima, compresa l’Italia, otto nella seconda e altrettante nella terza. Nella prima fascia che comprende tutte le migliori squadre sono state inserite: Brasile, Stati Uniti, Giappone, Italia, Cina, Russia, Serbia, Repubblica Dominicana, Germania, Corea del Sud, Turchia e Thailandia. Queste daranno vita a nove tornei quadrangolari che serviranno a stilare una classifica da cui le prime quattro più il Giappone (Paese Organizzatore) accederanno alla Final Six in programma dal 20 al 24 agosto a Tokyo. Nella seconda fascia sono state inserite otto formazioni: Polonia, Perù, Porto Rico, Olanda, Argentina, Canada, Cuba e Belgio. Queste squadre daranno vita a sei quadrangolari: le migliori tre della classifica più la Polonia (Paese Organizzatore) giocheranno una Final Four la cui vincitrice accederà alla Final Six. Nella terza fascia sono state inserite otto squadre: Kenya, Algeria, Kazakistan, Croazia, Repubblica Ceca, Messico, Bulgaria e Australia. Queste daranno vita a quattro quadrangolari: le prime tre della classifica più la Bulgaria (Paese Organizzatore) giocheranno una Final Four. Il sistema di punteggio prevede che nel caso in cui un match terminerà 3-0 o 3-1, alla squadra vincitrice andranno 3 punti, alla perdente 0. In caso di 3-2, 2 punti alla vincente e 1 alla perdente. In caso due squadre finiscano a pari punti determinante sarà numero delle gare vinte, il quoziente set ed il quoziente punti.
