Beginning Friday, Nov. 8, AMC is offering select IMAX® 3D showings of Marvel's THOR: THE DARK WORLD at all of its IMAX locations nationwide. Guests who see the movie in IMAX 3D at AMC Theatres will also have the opportunity to see an extended sneak peek of Marvel's CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, which is scheduled to open April 4, 2014. In addition, tickets are still available to The Thor Marathon at AMC Theatres. On Thursday, Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m., The Thor Marathon will feature Marvel's THOR, MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS and will culminate with Marvel's THOR: THE DARK WORLD at 8 p.m. The marathon will be available on traditional 3D screens and fans attending the event will receive a limited edition lanyard and a commemorative gift at participating locations while supplies last. They will analyze and evaluate their own work and that of their peers in critiques. The unit will culminate with an art show for the community featuring the student illustrations. As one of three art teachers at Newark High School in Newark, Delaware, I plan to teach this unit in two of my classes. My Art Fundamentals class is our foundations course with an enrollment of over 30 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The other class is my small upper level Advanced Drawing class that is composed of juniors and seniors who have more advanced skills. Newark High School is a Title 1 school with a population that is over 50% minority, 43% low income and 7% special education.

Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters.     Skywalker 1 Leia Skywalker Professor Kenobi ENGL1301 10 November 2015 Tinker Tailor Winter Soldier Captain America: The Winter Solider is one of my favorite films and my favorite of the Marvel films franchise by far. Marvel generally takes an interesting approach to its cinematic universe by blending superhero films with other genres to produce genre-breaking movies. Thor, for example, bears the hallmarks of a fantasy film with its sweeping vistas of other worlds, while Guardians of the Galaxy moves into the realm of science fiction, including large-scale spaceship fights like Star Wars and Star Trek. Ant-Man revolved around planning and executing a heist, and Captain America: The First Avenger is largely a war movie. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (CATWS) follows this pattern, combining a superhero film with one of my favorite tropes, the sociopolitical spy thriller. In effect, it’s Captain America meets Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The film raises issues of current political threats, and while the music and plot build suspense, Captain America and Black Widow don’t know who to trust—all key hallmarks of Cold War spy films. Although the original Cold War backstory of the Captain America comics has been largely jettisoned to make room for a modern terrorist threat in this film, the most obvious earmark remains: the Winter Solider keeps his name. Formerly Sergeant James “Bucky” Barnes, Steve’s best friend (and supposed war casualty), the Winter Soldier was forcibly recruited for HYDRA back in World War II, when Steve mistakenly thought Bucky had been killed. HYDRA in the first Captain America movie represented the Nazis; it’s implied in CATWS that during the Cold War, they represented the USSR; and in the modern world of CATWS, they represent a terrorist threat.

Abstract Established in 2008 with the release of Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a ubiquitous transmedia sensation. Its uniquely interwoven narrative provides auspicious grounds for scholarly consideration. The franchise conscientiously presents larger-than-life superheroes as complex and incredibly emotional individuals who form profound interpersonal relationships with one another. This thesis explores Sarah Hagelin’s concept of resistant vulnerability, which she defines as a “shared human experience,” as it manifests in the substantial relationships that Steve Rogers (Captain America) cultivates throughout the Captain America narrative (11). This project focuses on Steve’s relationships with the following characters: Agent Peggy Carter, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier).
