Uncut The official music video for The New Pornographers' ‘War On The East Coast’ premiered today at Rolling Stone and can be viewed/embedded now on YouTube. Of the video directed by Thom Glunt, A.C. Newman comments, “We were going for some mid nineties second tier brit pop attitude. In the past, I’ve never really wanted to be in the video. But with this, we wanted to have fun and fully be IN the video”. ‘War On The East Coast’ is taken from the band’s highly anticipated new album, Brill Bruisers, which is released on August 25th via Matador Records. Additionally, the title track, which was recently named “Best New Track” by Pitchfork, is available to hear and view at the band's interactive website www.thenewpornographers.com. Brill Bruisers is the first new release in four years from the acclaimed supergroup, who have been called, “Virtually peerless in the world of power-pop and indie-rock” by NPR Music. Additionally, the New Yorker describes the band’s music as, “...magnificent and clever…”, while Stereogum proclaims, “In recent history, no group has featured so much formidable established talent, collaborating on a regular basis.” Of the new album, lead-singer and main songwriter AC Newman comments, “This is a celebration record. After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that”. Produced by band-members John Collins (bass) with Newman, the 12-track album was recorded primarily at Little Blue in Woodstock, NY and at JC/DC Studios in Vancouver B.C. with additional recording in Austin, Brooklyn and Vermont. Newman adds, “We wanted Xanadu and we wanted Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which translated into sparklier and faster”.
