F P’ Dear Friends in Christ,

Many thanks to all who helped make our 50th Annual Parish Bazaar such a success! Last weekend, we were blessed with fair (albeit hot!) weather, and it was clear that a lot of fun was had by all. A special word of deep gratitude goes to Gary Blanchette and Larry Moller, our Bazaar Chairs, as well as Diane Senger from the parish staff for their hard work. The parish office will be closed Monday, May 27 We continue on in this season of Easter joy, graced with the vision of the new in observance of Jerusalem in today’s second reading, as well as the promise of the coming Memorial Day! Holy Spirit in today’s Gospel. It is this Holy Spirit which completes, in many ways, the trajectory of the Easter season – Christ not only destroys death, but We will re-open on also gives us his Spirit, so that the closeness and intimacy He enjoys with the Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Father can now be ours, as well.

We also look forward to celebrating the Feast of the Ascension next weekend, and the long-awaited ordination of our dear friends, Deacons Justin Cormie and Kingsley Nwoko, to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. Justin and Kingsley St. Vincent de Paul office spent consecutive years here at Saint Theresa’s on their Pastoral Year, a kind will be closed Monday, of internship experience, and we are delighted to witness them now taking May 27th in observance their first steps into priestly ministry. Fr. Justin will celebrate a Mass of of Memorial Day. Thanksgiving here at the parish next Sunday at 10:00 a.m., with a reception afterwards. Fr. Kingsley will join us on June 23rd to celebrate the 8:00 a.m. and The office will re-open Friday, May 31, 2019. 12:00 p.m. Masses. What a wonderful blessing in the life of our parish!

Each parish experiences profound graces and transitions – reminders of the Donation of Altar transformative power of the Spirit and the great adventure of a life lived with Arrangement God. Trusting in His will, I wish to inform you that on July 1, Saint Theresa’s will welcome a new Pastor (yet to be named), and I will begin a new assign- May 26, 2019 ment as a Formation Faculty member at Saint Mary’s Seminary in Houston. In memory of Our Bishop, Cardinal DiNardo, knows what a wonderful parish this is, as well Jose Rafeiro as my great love for this community, which has taught and loved this first-time Pastor more than he could have ever dreamed possible. In shepherding this local Church, however, he asked if I would freely choose to assist him at this moment in the important and delicate role of forming future priests. With affection and obedience, but not without great heartache, I agreed.

My final weekend at the parish will be June 29th/30th. Until then, we have much to do and celebrate, and I look forward to spending these days with you. In remembrance of a loved Thank you for your love and support these past four years. May the prayers of one, a donation toward an Our Lady and Saint Theresa help us to say “yes” to God’s will for us each day. Altar arrangement is a

lovely gesture.

Today there are 59 Conferences in the Galveston-Houston Council with more than 1,900 members in spiritual growth, friendship and service to the poor throughout the 10 counties that comprise the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Our St. Theresa Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

Our St. Theresa conference has more than twenty dedicated member/volunteers called Vincentians. They manage the food pantry, listen to and help our suffering friends and neighbors, and when needed, visit them at home.

As Vincentians we are blessed to be given the opportunity to serve the needy families and seniors in our surrounding com- munities on your behalf. However, in the hustle and bustle of the food pantry it's easy to lose focus, concentrating on the mechanics of providing food and less on showing compas- sion, love and friendship. At times like this we remind our- selves:

"It’s not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts” Mother Teresa of Calcutta
