FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 16, 2013 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT PRESENTS CHRISTOPHER CROSS FRIDAY • MAY 16 Richmond, BC – Those who have followed Multi-Platinum recording artist Christopher Cross have reaped the rewards of set after set of intelligently written and performed melodic pop. Throughout the span of his career, he has remained a unique artist … replete with that confounding blend of sensitivity, determination and conviction of his own artistry. It was in 1980 that the San Antonio, Texas-born singer-songwriter released his self-titled debut album virtually defining adult contemporary radio with a series of smoothly sophisticated ballads including the lead single, “Ride Like the Wind” which rocketed to the #2 spot. The album also spawned the #1 single, “Sailing” and two more Top 20 hits … “Never Be the Same” and “Say You’ll Be Mine”. The album also earned Cross an unprecedented and record-setting five Grammy Awards. The following year, he scored a second #1 hit with “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager and Peter Allen for Dudley Moore’s blockbuster film, Arthur. Cross’ second album, Another Page was released in 1983 and produced the hit singles, “All Right”, “No Time for Talk” and “Think of Laura” which was prominently featured on ABC’s daytime drama, General Hospital. He then went on to co-write and sing “A Chance for Heaven”, the song that helped define the 1984 Summer Olympic Games and “Loving Strangers” for Tom Hank’s 1986 film, Nothing In Common. Beyond the Cross- mania years, he has continued to record album after album … his most recent being A Night in Paris which was released this past March. The album is his first live 2-CD/DVD set and was filmed at the notorious Theatre Le Trianon in Paris, France. Just last week, he appeared on ABC’s late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live where he performed “Ride Like the Wind” with Will Ferrell portraying his Anchorman character, “Ron Burgundy”. The song will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Cross will be performing all of his hits at the River Rock Casino Resort on May 16, 2014.
