  • RJD2 Presents “We Come Alive” Featuring Son Little, New Single Off Dame Fortune, out March 25Th on RJ’S Electrical Connections
March 2, 2016 For Immediate Release RJD2 Presents “We Come Alive” Featuring Son Little, New Single Off Dame Fortune, out March 25th on RJ’s Electrical Connections https://soundcloud.com/officialrjd2/06-we-come-alivefeaturing-son-little/s-q00mh (RJD2 image by Nick Fancher) Dame Fortune, the sixth studio album by veteran producer and cratedigger extraordinaire RJD2, is streaked with Philadelphia’s reputation for deeply felt soul music while maintaining a playful sense of adventurousness. No song better represents this than the album’s slinky centerpiece, “We Come Alive” featuring Son Little (aka Aaron Livingston). Working together in various entities, most recently the duo’s Icebird project, the producer and guest vocalist have a creative connection easily recognized by the strength of this standout single. As described by RJ, “Our musical tastes are very similar—he can go from Black Sabbath to Dennis Brown and not miss a beat. We work very well together." Dame Fortune was recorded over the past year while living in Philadelphia before RJD2 moved back to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to Son Little, the thought-provoking, yet deliciously entertaining album features guest vocals by Jordan Brown, Blueprint and frequent collaborator Phonte, while also presenting the bombastic hip-hop sound that marked RJD2's breakthrough album, Deadringer, and even an orchestral composition for the societal unrest experienced in this day and age. Dame Fortune is out March 25th on RJ’s Electrical Connections. iTunes pre-orders come with instant grat downloads of “Peace of What,” “The Sheboygan Left,” and “We Come Alive” featuring Son Little.

Recorded at Paris’s iconic Studios Ferber with producer Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao), aloha is Little’s first album to be recorded with an outside producer. • September 18, 2019 Son Little Returns with Invisible, New EP Out
September 18, 2019 For Immediate Release Son Little Returns With invisible, New EP Out October 11th on ANTI-, And Presents Video For New Single “hey rose” Touring North America In November/December (photo by Shervin Lainez) Son Little, the musical nom de plume of LA’s Aaron Earl Livingston, whose “impeccably crafted songs are honest and unpretentious” (NPR Music), today announces invisible, a new EP due October 11th via ANTI-. Recorded at Paris’s iconic Studios Ferber with producer Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao), invisible offers up a tantalizing preview of Little’s third full-length album, set for release early next year. Watch the video for lead single, “hey rose,” below. Watch Video For “hey rose” - https://youtu.be/KTzEVH4f434 While Little plays nearly every instrument on the EP himself, he put his songs in the hands of an outside producer for the first time here, collaborating with Letang to create his boldest, most self-assured statement yet. Equal parts vintage and modern, the collection blends classic soul, old-school R&B, and adventurous indie sensibilities into a timeless swirl fueled by gritty instrumental virtuosity and raw, raspy vocals. It’s an ambitious work of vision and reflection, to be sure, but more than that, it’s an ecstatic testament to the freedom that comes from letting go. Little’s newfound liberation is clear from the outset of invisible, which revels in freewheeling wordplay and daring sonic juxtaposition. Opener “hey rose” marries distorted, jittery guitar with smooth, sinuous vocals, while the slow-burning “about her. again.” injects trippy psychedelia into Sam Cooke soul, and a cover of “Skid” from Love’s long lost masterpiece Black Beauty uses a 1973 meditation on homelessness to make a pointed statement about our indifference to suffering in modern America.

  • Son Little LP Bio Playing His Songs Across the United States and In
Son Little LP bio Playing his songs across the United States and in Europe over the past year, with a wide range of artists and to varying audiences, Son Little has noticed something particular about his own music. “As I’ve been going around to different places with this very eclectic mix of other acts, one thing that’s struck me about my music is just how American it is,” he says. And while he’s not wearing a stars-and-stripes polo while shooting fireworks and holding a sousaphone, his sentiment rings true. Here in this proud, brave land of blurred lines and regional dishes is a musical melting pot that sizzles and smokes, from sea to shining sea. Son Little is stirring that broth. “Part of what’s unique about this country is its intense mixture of things. People in different regions don’t always understand each other that well, but music can go places that people won’t always go. That’s part of who I am and definitely part of the music I’m making, so now more than ever I feel very American.” The artist formerly known as Aaron Livingston knows his nation well. He was born to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, where he learned how to listen and how to play before moving east to New York and New Jersey. He dropped in and out of schools in Manhattan then Philadelphia, and there he collaborated with acts like The Roots and RJD2. He first planted his flag as Son Little with last year’s highly praised EP, Things I Forgot, a small collection of big songs that showcased his ability to hop across genres as well as he does state lines.

Son Little aloha Coming Out January 31, 2020 “Letting go can be a scary prospect,” says Son Little. “But there’s beauty in it, too. Everything you leave behind opens up space for something new in your life.” That was certainly the case with Little’s remarkable new album, ‘aloha.’ Written in only eight days and recorded at Paris’s iconic Studio Ferber, the entire project was an exercise in letting go, in ceding control, in surrendering to fate. While Little still plays nearly every instrument on the album himself, he put his songs in the hands of an outside producer for the first time here, collaborating with French studio wizard Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao) to create his boldest, most self-assured statement yet. Equal parts vintage and modern, the collection blends classic soul, old-school R&B, and adventurous indie sensibilities into a timeless swirl fueled by gritty instrumental virtuosity and raw, raspy vocals. It’s an ambitious work of vision and reflection, to be sure, but more than that, it’s an ecstatic testament to the freedom that comes from torching the map and trusting the currents of life to carry you where you belong. “I’d always produced myself in the past,” explains Little, “but it’s easy to get caught up in an endless quest for perfection when you do that. Working with Renaud let me see my work from an outsider’s perspective, and that helped me get out of my own way.” Born Aaron Earl Livingston to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, Little first came to international prominence with his self-titled debut, released in 2015 on ANTI- Records.
