Press Release Press Release 2016 Budget Statement to be delivered at 3.30pm on Thursday, 24 March 2016 Singapore’s FY2016 Budget Statement will be delivered by Minister for Finance, Mr Heng Swee Keat, on Thursday, 24 March 2016 at 3.30pm in Parliament. 2 The Budget Speech will be broadcast 'live' over Channel NewsAsia, with Mandarin interpretation on dual sound mode, and over the radio on 938Live. A ‘live’ webcast of the Speech will be available on the Singapore Budget Website (www.singaporebudget.gov.sg), on the Channel NewsAsia website (www.channelnewsasia.com), and on MediaCorp’s Toggle interactive service (www.toggle.sg). The ‘live’ webcast of the Budget Speech can also be viewed on the Singapore Budget mobile application, which is available for download on both the iOS and Android platforms. 3 MOF has engaged the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) to provide simultaneous sign language interpretation of the Budget Speech. Those who wish to tune in to the sign language interpretation may select the relevant viewing option on the Singapore Budget website or mobile application. 4 There will be continuing real-time updates of key announcements from the Budget Speech on the MOF Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MOFsg) and the MOF Twitter account (www.twitter.com/MOFsg). To view Budget-related tweets and postings, the public may use the hashtag #SGBudget2016. 5 The public may visit the Singapore Budget website and subscribe to the Budget Statement mailing list to receive the full Budget Statement via email after it has been delivered.     MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL TRANSLATION COMMITTEE 1 MARCH 2018 TO 29 FEBRUARY 2020 Ms Sim Ann (Chairperson from 1 May 2018) Ms Sim Ann is currently the Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Communications and Information & the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. She is a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. Sim Ann was educated at the Hwa Chong Junior College from 1992 to 1993. In 1997, she obtained a B.A (Honours) from Oxford University, where she had studied since 1994. She was awarded an M.A from Stanford University in 2009. Sim Ann also has a Post Graduate Diploma from the Nanyang Technological University. Sim Ann started her career in 1998 as an Assistant Director for Finance Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Health. From 2000 to 2003, she worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs as an Assistant Director for Implementation Planning, before moving to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where she was Deputy Director for Trade until 2006. Between 2007 and 2009, she was the Regional Director (East China) for IE Singapore and in 2009, she became the Director for the National Population Secretariat until she left the Civil Service in 2011. Sim Ann first stepped into the political arena in the 2011 General Elections when she contested in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC as one of the four-member PAP team led by incumbent Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. The other PAP members are Christopher de Souza and Liang Eng Hwa. She is currently the MP for the Holland- Bukit Timah GRC.

    Ms Sun Xueling Minister of State Ministry of Education Ministry of Social and Family Development Member of Parliament Punggol West SMC REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE Ms Sun Xueling was elected a Member of Parliament in September 2015. She currently holds the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social and Family Development Ms Sun serves as a Board Member of the Chinese Development Assistance Council. After the 2015 General Election, Ms Sun was appointed CEO of Business China, a non-profit organization which aims to form a cultural and economic bridge linking the world and China. Business China was launched in 2007 by Mr Lee Kuan Yew, late founding Prime Minister of Singapore and then Premier Wen Jiabao of the People’s Republic of China. Before entering politics, Ms Sun spent more than a decade in the Private Sector in Finance and Investments. She was Director, Investments Group, at Temasek International, focusing on investment opportunities in China and other developing countries in Latin America. She had also spent 8 years based in Hong Kong and China working for Deutsche Bank AG as a Director and also as Senior Vice-President in Macquarie Securities. Ms Sun spent her early career at the Economic Development Board of Singapore and DBS Bank Ltd. She received her Master of Science in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and also holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics from the National University of Singapore. Tomorrow is International Women’s Day (IWD). This occasion should have been special for two reasons. a. It is likely to be the last IWD before we hold the next GE. b. It is the start of a new decade and so a good time for the Women’s Wing (WW) to take stock, and to map out our vision for the future. 2. Therefore, right up to early February, we had been planning for a different kind of celebration. a. None of us could have expected the Covid-19 outbreak. b. However, in the true Singapore Spirit, the WW response is to be nimble and still come together to mark IWD in a meaningful way. Same same but different! c. At another suitable time, possibly at our annual WW Conference to be held in the later part of the year, we will revisit the important topic of our plans for the future. 3. For today, I’m sure you will agree with me, it is appropriate to begin by thanking all our frontline staff. a. We thank them in the same way as all Singaporeans. b.     PRESS RELEASE PARLIAMENT OF SINGAPORE INVITATION FOR WRITTEN REPRESENTATIONS BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON DELIBERATE ONLINE FALSEHOODS – CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES AND COUNTERMEASURES A Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods – Causes, Consequences and Countermeasures has been appointed by the Singapore Parliament with the following terms of reference: To examine and report on: (a) the phenomenon of using digital technology to deliberately spread falsehoods online; (b) the motivations and reasons for the spreading of such falsehoods, and the types of individuals and entities, both local and foreign, which engage in such activity; (c) the consequences that the spread of online falsehoods can have on Singapore society, including to our institutions and democratic processes; and (d) how Singapore can prevent and combat online falsehoods, including: (i) the principles that should guide Singapore's response; and (ii) any specific measures, including legislation, that should be taken. 2 The Select Committee is chaired by Deputy Speaker Charles Chong and comprises the following members: 1.
