Hilton Hawaiian Beach Resort & Spa

Sponsored by MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Aloha,

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to another inspiring evening at this year’s 2011 Shidler College of Hall of Honor event.

Tonight, we are honored to present Mr. Yoshihiko Miyauchi, chairman and CEO of ORIX, as our keynote speaker. With over 45 years of executive experience, Mr. Miyauchi will share his insights in the challenges and opportunities in today’s global business environment, and the important part Hawai‘i plays in the Asia- Pacific region.

We are also excited to introduce four exceptional alumni that will be inducted into the College’s Hall of Honor: Eddie Lam, CEO of Onlen Fairyland Company, Ltd and Feng Tai Footwear Company, Ltd., Patrick Oki, managing partner of PKF Pacific , Michele Saito, president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii, and Alvin Wong, real estate developer and general partner of Royal Kinau Partnership. These inductees represent the highest level of excellence for their exceptional work and leadership in their professions, community and alma mater. This evening, they will join an impressive list of 64 past Hall of Honor inductees (see complete list on pages 12-13).

Each year, I am overwhelmed by the support we receive from our alumni, friends and local business community who continue to support the College, despite a depressed economy. Tonight, we have over 55 companies and 400 professionals gathered here tonight to support the Shidler College of Business Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund. These scholarship endowments will enable the College to create a secured revenue stream to recruit the best and brightest students from Hawai‘i and around the world, and continue to provide a high-quality workforce for Hawai‘i.

And finally, I would like to send a special mahalo to David Tumilowicz, publisher of Hawaii Business; Robin Campaniano, Shidler College of Business advisory chair; Barbara Tanabe, emcee for tonight’s program, the Shidler Alumni Association’s officers and directors; and Jay Shidler, for their continuous support of this and other College events throughout the year.

Thank you all for making the Shidler Hall of Honor one of Hawai‘i’s most successful fundraising and friendraising events.

Sincerely,

Vance Roley
