1. Invitation On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 12th IUPAC International Conference on Novel Materials and their Synthesis (NMS-XII) and Post-Conference in the coming October, 2016 in (長沙), Hunan Province, China. More than 270 invited lectures will present their recent research progress in various fields of novel materials including their preparation, characterization, properties and applications. It is a good chance to renew our friendship and to facilitate discussions on fine chemistry, biomaterials, functional polymers, energy storage and conversion materials, nano materials, ceramic materials, metallic materials, and other novel materials. Hunan Agricultural University (HUNAU,湖南農業大學), a key provincial university of Hunan Province with a beautiful campus of 2.27 square kilometers, is situated in of Changsha. The beautiful scenery of Liuyang (瀏陽) River and Lake Donghu (東湖), the fresh air, and tranquil surroundings enlisted the university as a member of the provincial garden-like organizations. HUNAU was established in 1951 on the basis of two colleges: the Agricultural College of Hunan University and the Hunan Provincial Xiuye Agricultural and Forestry College, and was called Hunan Agricultural College. It was not renamed as Hunan Agricultural University until 1994. After more than half century's development, HUNAU has evolved from an agriculture-oriented teaching organization into a comprehensive university. In 1978, HUNAU started to grant degrees of master. In 1987, it began to grant degrees for doctors. And in 1995, the post-doctoral scientific study and research station was established in this university. HUNAU enrolls the students from all over China. Today, more than 50,000 students from 31 provinces study here, including 24,000 undergraduates, 26,000 adult-education students, 3000 masters and doctors. During the past fifty-five years, HUNAU has cultivated more than 100,000 elites for our society. Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, is a famous ancient city with a history of 3,500 years. It used to be a place of strategic importance in the Kingdom of Chu (楚國), and a famous prefecture of the Qin Dynasty (秦朝,221 BC-207 BC). Now Changsha is an important city with historical and cultural relics, and an ideal destination of tourists in Hunan province. The conference site, Hunan Agricultural University, is located in the east part of Changsha, which is convenient and near the Huanghua International Airport, the High Speed Railway Station as well as the Old Railway Station. We hope you will enjoy your stay here. If you have further questions or problems, please contact us in time. Looking forward to your active participation to add a lot of colors to the success of this Conference!

Sincerely yours, Qingming Zhou

On behalf of the cochairs of IUPAC NMS-XII Profs. Shaohui Fu, Qingming Zhou, Yuping Wu & Guoxiu Wang
