Clare in WW2 - The Emergency - WW2 /Emergency Stories from Clare Stories from Clare D Day 1944 - The 2nd US Rangers By Ger Browne The aim of this project is to find out how many men and women from Clare took part in WW2, and the effect of the war on Clare. It is hoped that an extension will be added to the Great War Memorial in Ennis that will include the names of the Clare War Dead from WW2 / The Emergency. At the moment we know that 86 died from Clare as well as in Clare. I would like to thank Keir McNamara, and his late father Peadar McNamara for all their research on WW1 and WW2. Eric Shaw, who has been providing me with amazing WW1 and WW2 information for years, and all the following who have helped make this project possible. Paddy Waldron, The Local Studies Centre, Peter Beirne, Brian Doyle, Guss O’Halloran, Sean Glennon, Jim Molohan, Joe Ó Muircheartaigh, Eddie Lough, Local Parish Booklets, The Clare Champion and The Clare People. The monks certainly had an eye for beauty and selected peaceful settings for their work. Some were on islands, nearly all were on hills, and they invariably were overlooking rivers, lakes, Lough Derg, the Shannon, the Shannon Estuary or the Atlantic. The views from some were spectacular. Inis Cealtra (Holy Island), Scattery Island, Clareabbey, Quin Abbey, Killone Abbey, St Flannan’s Cathedral Killaloe, are amongst the most beautiful sites in Clare.

It teaches terms associated with Irish genealogy and describes the contents, uses, and availability of major genealogical records. Use this outline to set meaningful research goals and to select the records which will help you achieve them. Usually, you will need to know the specific parish or town in Ireland where your ancestor was born before beginning your Irish research. Tips for finding your ancestor's place of origin are in the “Ireland Search Strategies” section of this outline. You will also need some basic understanding of genealogical research procedures before you begin to look for your ancestors. To help you understand the basics, the booklet, Guide to Research, are available at the Family History Library and at Family History Centers. Using This Outline Since several factors can affect your choice of records to search, this outline will help you evaluate the contents, reliability, availability, ease of use, time period covered, and the likelihood that your ancestor will be listed in these records.
