Open Access Policies Green Open Access

The self-deposit of articles in a Open Access repository, usually either an or a .

OA repositories can contain , , or published versions or articles.

• A , or author’s submitted , is any version prior to and publication, usually the version submitted to a journal.

• A , or accepted manuscript, is a version that has undergone peer-review

• A published version has been copy edited and formatted by the publisher. Green Open Access

80.4% of subscription journals allow Green Open Access deposit within 12 months of publication.

• 79.9 % allow deposit in institutional repositories

• 32.8% allow deposit in discipline or subject repositories

About 12% of eligible articles are deposited.

Objectives

• Raise awareness among faculty, staff, and students of open access publishing as an emerging mode of .

• Help foster a campus culture of considering open access when choosing a publishing venue.

• Increase familiarity with and use of the Scholars’ Repository for Green Open Access deposits. The Open Access Incentive

Requirements

• Submit 10 full-text articles, or 8 articles and two unpublished works in the Scholars’ Repository. Previous repository submissions may be included if new full- text versions are added.

• Attend up to two hours of training about open access publishing options, authors’ rights, and how to use the Scholars’ Repository.

• Identify two potential open access options for future publications.

• Communicate your experience with this program to college or school colleagues via a department meeting, blog, other gathering, etc. The Open Access Incentive

Process

• Fill out the application and send it to [email protected], along with your CV or other list of publications.

• We will send you a list of your OA eligible articles.

• Complete other requirements.

• Submit supplemental pay form, receive $200. The Open Access Incentive

The submission deadline is rolling and funds are available on a first come, first serve basis.

100 applications will be accepted over the next two years.
