18 3 The Second Station: Plenary Jesus Carries His Cross (All kneel) Leader: To obtain the graces of a plenary indulgence we pray Leader: We adore You, now for the intentions and wellbeing of our Holy Father. O Christ, and we bless You. Leader: Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy People: (All genuflect on name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in their right knee and say) heaven. Because by Your Holy People: Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our Cross You have trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and redeemed the world. lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Reader/Leader: Now the friends of Jesus lay His body in the Reader/Leader: Jesus has been badly beaten, and He is very tomb. They are sad, remembering the teachings and the good weak. 16 5 The Fourth Station: The Thirteenth Jesus Meets Station: His Mother Jesus is Taken from the Cross Leader: We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. Reader/Leader: Can you imagine how sad Mary feels watch- Reader/Leader: Mary waits below the cross to take her Son ing her beloved son being treated so cruelly? Her heart is bro- into her arms. She holds Him close, just as she held Him in the ken by his suffering just as your mother’s heart aches for you cold, dark stable of Bethlehem. What sorrow she must be when you are sick or unhappy. (Pause) feeling. (Pause)

Leader: And thine own soul Leader: Tears are on her cheeks People: a sword shall pierce. People: and there is none to comfort her.

All: (All kneel) Dear Mary, it must make you cry ● To know your only child will die. ● Help us let our parents know ● that we love and need them so. All: (All kneel) In sorrow, Mary holds her Son, ● His life is gone, His work is done. ● Dear Mother, make us brave like All: Hail Mary, full of Grace… you, ● When our lives are filled with sadness too.

6 15 The Twelfth Station: The Fifth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross The Cyrenean Helps Jesus

Leader: We adore You, O Leader: We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. Christ, and we bless You. Reader/Leader: After three hours of suffering, Jesus dies on Reader/Leader: The soldiers force to help the Cross. Picture that moment in your mind. The world Jesus carry His Cross. What would you do if you were Simon? becomes dark, the earth trembles, and someone cries out, Would you accept the cross of Jesus? Would you be strong “Clearly, this was the Son of God!” (Pause) enough to carry it? (Pause)

14 7 The Sixth Station: The Eleventh Station: Veronica Wipes Jesus is Nailed the Face of Jesus to His Cross

Reader/Leader: The face of our Lord is covered with sweat Reader/Leader: There is Jesus, lying on His Cross as the and dirt and blood. Prostrate on the dust He crumbled, Life eternal, death defiant, Flogged in Body He resembled Bowed his head – the world is silent, All our brothers poor and scorned. Through his death came life anew.

8 13 The Tenth Station: Jesus is Stripped The Seventh Station: of his Garments Jesus Falls the Second Time Leader: We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. Reader/Leader: By now the sight of Jesus is so sad that just Reader/Leader: Again Jesus falls. His journey is almost over. looking at Him makes people burst into tears. Jesus tells them He is so tired, He can hardly get up. What a great love Jesus not to cry for Him. He tells them to cry for God’s children who has for all of us. (Pause) are suffering.(Pause)

Leader: Weep not for me Leader: God forbid that we should give glory People: but for yourselves and for your children. People: save in the cross of Christ.

All: (All kneel) Jesus, You heard the women cry ● and spoke All: (All kneel) Your journey’s almost over when, ● Son of to them as You passed by. ● Help us wipe away the tears ● Of God, you fall again. ● Dear Jesus, help us when we pray ● for those who suffer pain and fear. perseverance every day.

Jesus fell again in weakness, Stripped and jeered by His own nation, Stumbling as we do, to lead us Jesus stood in desolation, Through our sorrow and our pain. giving all He had to give.
