MICHAEL MONROE CONFIRMS the RELEASE of NEW STUDIO ALBUM, ‘BLACKOUT STATES’, for OCTOBER 16Th 2015 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS 28-05-2015 14:23 CEST MICHAEL MONROE CONFIRMS THE RELEASE OF NEW STUDIO ALBUM, ‘BLACKOUT STATES’, FOR OCTOBER 16th 2015 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS MICHAEL MONROE – hugely influential front-man, force of nature, multi- instrumentalist and revered rock ‘n’ roll icon – releases new studio album, ‘Blackout States’, on October 16th2015 via Spinefarm Records; this 13 track outing, produced by ChipsKiesbye (Hellacopters, Nomads, etc.) in Gothenburg, Sweden, and mixed by Petri Majuri in Helsinki, Finland, is the follow-up to ‘Horns And Halos’ – a Finnish chart-topper in 2013. With ‘Blackout States’, Monroe’s current touring and recording outfit – bassist Sami Yaffa (ex-Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls), guitarist Steve Conte (ex-New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves), guitarist Rich Jones (ex-Black Halos/Amen) and drummerKarlRockfist (ex-Chelsea Smiles/Danzig) – provide strong creative support for a ground-breaking artist whose reputation continues to flourish, with many of rock‘n’roll’s most noted performers (including Dave Grohl and Slash) citing his unwavering drive and three-decade-plus career as a genuine source of inspiration. Indeed, when Slash headlines the Ice Hall in Helsinki on May 28th, Monroe will be the invited Special Guest, opening the show in front of thousands of fans;after that, he heads across to London to play the Camden Rocks Festival on May 30th – this one-off UK appearance (at Camden Proud) will be filmed by celebrated videographer/ photographer Ville Juurikkala as part of the video for the first single from ‘Blackout States’. As with ‘Horns And Halos’, the new recordings see Monroe both toasting the future and honouring the past, occasionally giving the nod to glam punk pioneers, Hanoi Rocks,the group he forged his name with in the early-to mid- ’80s. Says Monroe: “I’m extremely excited about our new album, 'Blackout States’. It has all the ingredients of a perfect rock‘n’roll record – strong melodic songs with great meaningful lyrics that defy all clichés, delivered with a punky, ballsy attitude by a killer band.     Pressemitteilung zu Michael Monroe Der Ex-Frontmann von Hanoi Rocks Michael Monroe präsentiert sein neues Album „One Man Gang“ live in Hamburg am 26.10.19 im Headcrash Hamburg, Mai 2019 – Nach seiner letzten Deutschland-Tour zum Album „Blackout States“ im Oktober 2016 kündigt der finnische Rocksänger Michael Monroe zwei weitere Konzerte hierzulande an. Der ehemalige Frontmann der legendären Glam Rock-Band Hanoi Rocks wird dabei sein im Oktober 2019 erscheinendes neues Album „One Man Gang“ live vorstellen. Der 56-Jährige ist in Hamburg am 26.10.19 im Headcrash zu Gast! Michael Monroe hat seinen Platz in der Rockgeschichte sicher, denn schon mit seiner ehemaligen Band Hanoi Rocks sorgt er in den Achtzigern für Aufsehen und beeinflusst maßgeblich die internationale Glam Rock-Szene. Bands wie Guns N’ Roses und Mötley Crüe zählen zu den Bewunderern der finnischen Band, die mit Hits wie „Tragedy“, „Up Around The Bend“ (Creedence Clearwater Revival), „Don‘t You Ever Leave Me“ und „Million Miles Away“ einen großen Einfluss auf die amerikanische Sunset Strip-Szene hat.     Band: Michael Monroe (FIN) Genre: Hard Rock Label: Spinefarm Records Album Titel: Blackout State Spielzeit: 41:58 VÖ: 16.10.15 Als ich das erste Mal von Michael Monroe hörte, war das im Zusammenhang mit seinem Album "Sensory Overdrive". Ich war begeistert. Schnörkelos, direkt auf die zwölf mit tollen Gesangslinien. Schlicht und einfach. Leider schwächelte der Finne auf seinem Folgewerk, auch wenn es hohe Chartsplatzierungen einfahren konnte. Anderen wird er vielleicht als Sänger von Hanoi Rocks bekannt sein. Jedenfalls steht mit "Blackout State" ein neues Werk an. Hoffentlich knüpft es an "Sensory Overdrive" an. Der Einstieg schafft es jedenfalls. "This Ain't no Love Song" ist rotzig, frech und geht ins Ohr. Kein langes Intro oder anderes Geplänkel, es geht mit Volldampf voraus. Die Produktion ist für die punkige Attitüde angemessen. Kein sternenklarer Klang, etwas leicht kratzig in den Höhen, aber passend zur Musikrichtung. Leider tritt relativ schnell Ernüchterung ein. Das Songmaterial ist erstaunlicherweise sehr poppig geraten. Es könnte sich zum Teil um Songs von Bon Jovi handeln, was sicherlich auch nichts schlimmes ist, da dieser Kerl ja kommerziell einige Erfolge aufzuweisen hat. Aber hier passt es irgendwie nicht zusammen. Herzschmerz-Riff und Hinschmacht-Verse treffen auf Saufpub-Refrain. Leider zieht sich das durch das komplette Album hindurch. Es wirkt einfach falsch. Aber es gibt sie dann doch, die guten Songs. "Good Old Bad Days" trifft direkt ins Mark und man fängt sofort an mitzuschütteln. Es klingt auch gleich ganz anders, wesentlich befreiter. Oder "R.L.F.", das schon Motörhead- Charakteristika aufweist. In diesen Momenten ist das Werk klar am besten und einfach authentisch.
