You watched these shark experts and ocean champions on SHARK WEEK & SHARKFEST, and may have read their books. They know you support their work and they really DO want to get to know you in person! Forty of the world’s top shark celebrities–those scientists, explorers, underwater photographers, filmmakers and conservationists that you are watching on SharkWeek and SharkFest, network television and in documentary films–are on the auction block on eBay Charity Auction beginning 7 pm EST on Saturday July 27st. Being auctioned is a lunch or dinner with a shark expert or 'celeb'. This is a unique opportunity to meet one-on-one and “talk shark” with one of the world's experts. And, they really do want to meet and get to know you too! Although most of the ‘celebs’ are in the USA, some are in Australia, Bahamas, Germany and South Africa, so unless you are able to fly or drive to their location, bid on those that are nearby. Shark Research Institute will introduce the expert or celebrity and the winning bidder. Then the two of you choose a mutually agreeable date, time and place to get together within one year of the close of this auction. All meals are paid by the winning bidder, and the winning bidder may bring guests. There are also a handful of other ‘celebs’ up for adoption, some of our favorite whale sharks and white sharks. You can browse or bid by clicking here or paste this into your browser https://tinyurl.com/y4qc8c2p and start bidding on your favorites! And please, share the link to this auction with friends on your email list as well as your friends and followers on Social Media. The aim of the auction is twofold: ● To spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively to protect sharks and the ocean. ● Generate funds for field research, shark and ocean conservation projects and outreach programs. Shark Research Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Winning bids are 100% deductible from 2019 US Federal income taxes as Charitable Contributions. Ph.D., Shark Conservationist and Photographer, in Belleville, New Jersey Debra earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Science with a concentration in neuroscience at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Her thesis was on neuronal control of glucose homeostasis and how it is altered in Diabetes. She was also a recipient of a National Science Foundation grant in which she facilitated the science curriculum for inner city school systems. After completing her Ph.D. she became an animal nutritionist for large and small pharmaceutical companies. During graduate school, Debra went on her first shark dive in the Bay Islands of Honduras and immediately developed a passion and love for sharks. In 2009 she joined the Shark Diver Magazine team as a staff photographer. As Debra’s love for sharks deepened, she began to focus her efforts on their preservation. Debra believes research and education will lead to the conservation of sharks, and hopes to inspire a new outlook on sharks and their need for their protection. In 2010 Debra started Epic Diving with her husband Dr. Vince Canabal. Their company uses ecotourism as a platform to aid in the protection of sharks. She also believes strongly in education: through Epic Diving, Debra created a scholarship program for high school seniors in the Bahamas which provides full tuition grants to the Technical and Vocational Institute in Nassau. www.epicdiving.com Have lunch with Vince Canabal, M.D., Shark Photographer & Expedition Leader, in Belleville, New Jersey Vincent is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician and holds a 100 ton masters license from the United Sates Coast Guard.
