The aim is to build a reputation at this years festival and possiblity of more acts getting involved next year. Main issue for the committee has been the staging. Original costs came in at £5000. Committee has found alternative for £1500 which is a trailer stage at 8m x 6m which will hard tap. Original budget was £4000 and request from committee to increase this to £6000. PTA agreed that £5000 should be allowed. Currents costs are: Stage £1500 Lighting £150 Toilets £750 Security £600 Marquee £300 Fuel £80 (offset) Licence £315 Mary suggested the idea of putting a dressing up tent at the Festival and making a catwalk so kids can dress up and do a catwalk. Interview with Tim Vigon, creator of world famous Made Of Paper fanzine (15/08/2014)! ! ! ! ! ! First things first how are you?! ! All good my friend. Thanks for asking!! ! ! Can you talk us through your up bringing?! ! My upbringing was pretty normal, I was brought up in Macclesfield which is about 20 miles South of Manchester, my parents were teachers and I went to a normal comprehensive school in Macc, when I was 16 I went to 6th form college in Moss Side, Manchester and that kind of opened up the world to me in a big way. Macclesfield is a small town , even though it’s close to Manchester people couldn’t be more different. It was totally different for me when I started hanging around with people who lived in a real City, it was 1987 when I started going to college in Manchester, so an amazing time to be there! ! ! ! ! What was the first music you got into?! ! Like most people it was just through whatever I could find of my mum and dads. They had a BASF 90 cassette (yep i’m that old) of the Beatles live at Hollywood Bowl with Sgt Peppers and Let It Be on the same tape. I played that tape to death. I’m still obsessed with the Beatles. I have a little doll of one of the Beatles on every door handle in my house and lots of bits and pieces of Beatles memorabilia. I just went to see Paul McCartney this weekend in LA. That was the first music I listened to and I’ve never got bored of it.

The term ‘Madchester’ originates from the title of a 1989 EP released by the Salford band the Happy Mondays, ‘Madchester Rave On’i. The term ‘Madchester’ was enthusiastically embraced and accentuated by the music press of this period and was rapidly adopted as a shortcut to describe the alleged youth cultural zeitgeist of the Manchester music scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s (Champion 1990; Halfacree and Kitchin 1996, Haslam 2000). The Happy Mondaysii were arguably the figureheads of ‘Madchester’. Other notable bands that were bundled together as being part of a Madchester scene include The Stone Roses, The Inspiral Carpets, Northside, The Charlatans, New Order (who grew from the band Joy Division after the death of their singer Ian Curtis in 1980) and 808 State. Most of these bands had been active well before the invention of ‘Madchester’ and like many media-invented labels aimed at creating a neat and instantly recognisable product, the idea of Madchester grossly over simplified the complexities of the range of pop music being made in the Manchester area at this time. It also led to bands who did not neatly fit the Madchester paradigm to being overlooked or sidelined by the music industry.
