What a day. 364 heads through the ring at Hallworthy and a strong trade too. Top today going to S Crago of Par with a super Limousin x Steer with stretch and power to £1240 and a SD x Steer with depth and muscle to £1160 and a third Limousin to £1085. JB Facey of saw their front end Simmental x Steer to a top of £1055. D Heard & Son of St Issey with a lovely run of British Blue x cattle to a top of £1040 and a second bunch to £1010. Mr Ely of St Keverne, saw his long journey made worth while with a superb pair of Limousin x Steers to a top of £1010. Heifers Clare Pedlar of saw her best 2 pens of British Blue x heifers with great fleshing and depth to £1075 for 5 and another 5 at £1000. Mr & Mrs Manhire of Roche saw their really posh Limousin x heifer with tremendous outlook to £1030. Messrs Facey saw their run of hiefers top out at £970 for a well defined Simmental x heifer. Younger cattle were still a strong trade with David Vickery seeing his simple Charolais x Steer to £910 and a trio to £885 at 12-13mth. Messrs Rail of North Petherwin saw his dairy x Charolais to a top of £845. Friesians Mr Ely of St Keverne topped this section with a super bunch of 9 steers to £940.

Cows A tremendous run of cows topped at 144 ppkilo to a top of £1110 and 142 ppkilo to £1030 and others to 113 pence to £830. Organics A wonderful run of North Devon cattle from David Telfer-Smollett topped at £835 and £815 for 10 at 20-25mth.

SHEEP AUCTIONEER STEVE PROUSE 07767 895366 337 DRAFT EWES A flying trade again from start to finish and a lot more are needed to fulfil buyers orders. 7 active buyers as usual and a top price on the day was £99 for a pen of Texel x from Roger Vosper, Churchtown followed by CF Biscombe & Son, Trevia, Camelford. Steve Goodman topped the Charollais x at £95. Several pens of mules over £75 to a top of £82 from Norman Hawkey, Great Skewes, St Wenn who also realised to £80.50 for another Hill Bred ewes to £71. 516 FAT LAMBS

Another good entry met similar trade with tight sheared young lambs selling to a premium. Several of which were over 230p to a top of 234p for a pen of Texel 45kgs from CA Statton, Fennel Farm, Badgall. The heavier and open coated lambs were more difficult to place as last week several over £100 to a top £105.50 from CA Statton and £105 from Steve Goodman, Greystone. 183 STORE LAMBS More store lambs of offer and several prospective buyers in attendance resulting in a strong trade. Several pens £70 top being £74 sold by Paul Taylor, Roche followed by G Marquand of Golberton who realised £71 for 4 pens of Shorn Texel x Mule lambs.
