It is one of Southeast Asia's most interesting cities due to its outstanding colonial and spiritual heritage. Afternoons visit to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, a 70-meter-long reclining Buddha with traditional symbols as its centre piece to introduce Myanmar's special brand of . Then go to Kandawgyi Park and Local Tea Shop for a chance to sample a staple of Burmese culture: tea drinking! While sitting amongst businessmen, friends, and relatives who gather at the tea shop to socialize or conduct business, enjoy a coffee or tea with a variety of snacks. Finally, see , one of the world's wonders and Myanmar's most revered Buddhist temple. It is thought to have been constructed 2500 years ago by the locals. The central stupa, which is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas, is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf. Explore the vast complex and discover why the temple is so revered by the locals. Then it is back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Yangon. [In Yangon, there is an English-speaking local guide service.] 45 minutes from Heho Airport to Nyaung Shwe (28 km). 30–60 minutes from Nyaung Shwe Jetty to Inle Lake Hotel (10–20 km). Transfer to the airport for your flight to Heho after an early breakfast at the hotel. Drive for an hour from Heho to Nyaung Shwe, the Inle Lake's gateway village. Stop at Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery, a wooden Shan monastery with magnificent carvings and a collection of Buddha images, along the way. Arrive at the Inle Lake jetty and board a private motorboat to Inle Lake, passing through villages built over the lake and populated by local Intha people. Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, which houses five holy Buddha images and serves as the lake's main sanctuary, to see the renowned leg-rowing fishermen and floating gardens. Visit Inpawkhone Village after lunch to see a hand-woven loom and a cheroot factory, where traditional Burmese cigars are handcrafted. Then go to Kalaw, a colonial town with a hilly train station just south of the town centre that looks like it came straight out of an English village. Then it is off to the Christ the King Catholic Church and high school, where one of the walls bears the odd motto, "The Only Way to Have a Thinking School is to Be One." This building, which used to be a British army hospital, is just as beautiful as the church. Return to downtown for a tour of the village, a meal at a local restaurant, and a return to the hotel. In Kalaw, you can relax and spend the night at a motel. [From Inle, with an English-speaking local guide] Depart Kalaw after breakfast for a 4-hour journey to the Royal Mandalay. Check in and refreshment at the hotel upon arrival in Mandalay. Then go to the gold covered Mahamuni Pagoda, one of Myanmar's most important pilgrim sites and home to the country's most revered Buddha image. We begin our journey at an elevated perspective with spectacular views of the surrounding plains when we arrive. With the grandeur and scope of Bagan's architecture, this is the ideal introduction to Bagan. Following that, go to , Bagan's masterpiece, and then to Myingaba Gubyaukgyi Temple to see the finest mural paintings of the 11th century. Then go to , which has a large Buddha image, and Nan Paya Temple, which has beautiful Buddha statues and stonework. After lunch, visit Dhamayangyi Temple, Bagan's largest temple, , Bagan's 12th century temple, and the lacquerware workshop, Bagan's most popular product. Watch as the talented artisans produce wonderful items using methods passed down through generations. Then ride a horse cart through the temples to a vantage point to watch the sunset over the plains. Return to the hotel and spend the night in Bagan. Popa, an extinct volcano thought to be home to ancient Burmese animist spirits known as "Nats." On the way, take in the sights of rural life, such as the production of palm sweets. We may make several stops to take photographs and learn about the area. Taking the 777 steps to the top for breathtaking views of the countryside Drive back to Bagan after taking in the panoramic view of the extinct volcano and the plain. Afternoon leisure at the hotel, then transfer to the jetty for a sunset cruise along the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. Return to the hotel and spend the night in Bagan. Transfer to Yangon Railway Station for a 20–30- minute ride to the outskirts of town on the local Circular Train to see the vibrant and colourful life of the rural Burmese people. Disembark to visit Kyi Main Dating Market, a lively market with a variety of street vendors. Before returning to Yangon by road, enjoy exploring the market and meeting friendly locals. After that, go to Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott's Market), Yangon's main bazaar. It is known for its colonial architecture and cobblestone streets lined with antique shops, Burmese handicraft and jewellery stores, art galleries, and clothing stores.
