On behalf of everybody connected to Crompton Cricket club we would like to welcome you all to our Sportsman’s Dinner. We have been very lucky to secure the services of one of the best football speakers around in Lee Sharpe and I’m sure we will enjoy the stories from his career and possibly other adventures. We also have top Yorkshire comedian Mike Farrell who I’m sure will keep us laughing long into the night. Our event is kindly being compèred by Chris Henthorn, who I’m sure will run the night with true professionalism. Tonight’s event is primarily aimed at raising much needed funds to be used towards a couple of major projects that will greatly improve our cricket facilities. We have been able to secure funding towards a new state of the art electronic scoreboard and a cricket field roller. These two items alone will cost in excess of £15,000 and we must provide 40% towards this cost. This shows the necessity of fundraising events like tonight and all funds raised will be used towards the projects. I would like to add a special mention for committee member Mark Mcdonald who has worked tirelessly towards obtaining the grant from Viridor Credits. We would also like to thank all of our club sponsors who provide us with much needed revenue and some have kindly placed adverts in tonight’s programme. We are continuously on the lookout for new sponsors and details can be provided on request. Finally, we would like to thank everybody who has been involved in selling tickets for tonight’s event which was sold out several weeks ago. So please enjoy your evening with us and let’s make tonight one to remember!
