At the same time it will be nice to report on the good things that many farmers and land-owners in Lezant Parish are doing for the environment, so please do JOHN CLARK Carpentry/Painting/Decorating 22 tell us what you are up to in this regard. Just the other day, I was walking near Beals LAUNCESTON COMPUTERS (Sales, Repairs & Training) 13 Mill, overlooking the river valley, and it was great to see that someone had been practis- ing traditional hedge-laying, something that will pay off later this year with improved LOWEN BRIDAL All things for your wedding 29 cover for nesting birds. We were entertained at the beginning of the meeting by Brenda, who amused us all with a very humorous anecdote. We then enjoyed a delicious meal of beef casserole (prepared by Steve Jones – thank you Steve) with potato, carrots and cabbage followed by a gorgeous bread and butter pudding from Jo Rider – thank you Jo. After the lunch several games of Bingo were played and the several prizes won. A good afternoon was enjoyed by all. If you would like to join us, please tele- phone Ruth on 01566 782286 or Audrey on 01566 773062 for more details and to reserve a place. Christmas was celebrated at various events as we looked forward in Advent to the day that commemorates our Saviour’s birth. Our annual Christmas meal and entertainment was very well attended and the programme went without hitch (well, nearly!). Of course, as usual, the various acts had been well rehearsed (??)! The supper was enjoyed by all and the enter- tainment drew much laughter from the audience. A very good evening for all. On the 17th December we had our Carol Service – the children enacted a Nativ- ity and the service included many traditional carols. The church looked beautiful with the decorated and lit tree and the flowers on all the windows. A special Christmas Eve Café Style Service was held in the Hall on 24th Decem- ber with carols sung along to the Kings College Choir’s Christmas Eve carols. A beautiful service to mark the Eve of Christ’s birth. On Christmas Day we held our usual Christmas Morning Service when the chil- dren brought along some of the presents they had received and entertained the congregation with demonstrations of their particular gifts. January was a quiet month except for the Family Party which was held on the 5th January – even though it was held after Christmas it was the usual seasonal get together with lots of games and a traditional tea. February was also a quiet month but we look forward to our quarterly Charity Coffee Morning on Saturday 4th March when we will be supporting Launceston Hospital League of Friends, a local charity which does much, not just for the hospital, but for the community around it. Please see the advertisement for this event on page 5 in this issue. Our Mothering Sunday Service on 11th March will be led by David Pett and will include Kids Aloud instead of that being held on its usual first Sunday. Then for Easter, we are organising an Easter Discovery Trail which will take place from Monday 26th March for the whole of Easter Week leading up to and including Easter Sunday on 1st April. There will be depictions of the stations of the cross all around Trebullett and its surrounds and children in the parish will be invited to travel around the various presentations and have a book that they can fill with stickers provided at each presentation. Easter Sunday will be Easter Praise to which the children can bring their sticker books and be presented with a small Easter gift.
