The successful tender represents WFS’ first operation in the Middle East. Due to commence operations in Amman in late 2013, WFS and Royal Jordanian will be responsible for premium meet and greet services, visa-on-arrival and fast track handling, providing a packing and wrapping service and a porter service for arrivals and departures at the airport. The new terminal will increase QAIA’s annual capacity from 3.5 million passengers to 9 million passengers, and later on to 12 million passengers. The new contract also covers management of the departure waiting area for VIPs and special needs passengers, operation of an arrivals lounge and trolley management. “This is a major contract and we are proud that Airport International Group (AIG) has given us this great opportunity to be part of the growth of this spectacular new gateway to Amman and Jordan. With our partner, Royal Jordanian Airlines, we will ensure the airport’s customers experience fast and efficient service levels on a par with the magnificent surroundings of this new airport. WFS has considerable expertise in the provision of premium meet and assist services at key international airports and this was an important factor in winning this contract,” said Barry Nassberg, Group Chief Operating Officer at WFS. AIG – the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) – said the decision to appoint WFS and Royal Jordanian was made following a comprehensive bidding process, which involved strict and transparent evaluation in order to ensure that bidders fulfilled preset technical and financial criteria, in line with international standards. The tender was addressed to local, regional and international service providers alike. Amer Hadidi, President & CEO of Royal Jordanian, said: “We are proud that AIG has announced that we are the preferred bidder to offer Meet & Assist Services. Our strong presence in Amman, coupled with the extensive experience of our partner, Worldwide Flight Services, means we are confident that we will offer passengers a pleasant experience they will remember. This partnership is in line with our new approach of expanding vertically in identifying new and attractive business opportunities. We would also like to express our pleasure in partnering with a renowned service provider such as WFS. We will ensure that we will work together to satisfy the needs of the Queen Alia International Airport passengers and serve them at global levels.” P.T.O “Our main priority has always been the delivery of a unique travel experience for passengers at QAIA, which falls in line with our aim of positioning the airport as an ideal choice for leisure and business travelers, as well as a convenient transfer hub in the region. For this purpose, our service providers are determined via open tenders that allow the participation of qualified entities,” said Kjeld Binger, CEO of AIG. “We are confident that the range of services offered by our new partners including passenger escort, shuttle, porter and packing services will further facilitate the journeys of our travelers.” WFS, a global provider of ground handling, cargo handling and technical services, operates at over 120 airports globally. In Hong Kong it has been the exclusive provider of Ancillary Passenger Services since 2002 and it also operates JetQuay, the CIP Terminal in Singapore which provides meet and greet services and terminal facilities to private jet and commercial services customers alike.
