Results of the competitions were issued by the Dairy Branch of the Manitoba Department of Agriculture. Some 43.9% of all prizes awarded went to Manitoba entries, which were in competition with entries from Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec. Championship ribbon for highest scoring butter on exhibit went to Briars Dairy Ltd. of Sutton West, Ontario. Tieing for top score was the Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Co-op Ltd., Dauphin, which was awarded the Reserve Championship. Flavor score for the winning Manitoba entry was 42.3 and total score 97.3. Manitoba's only cheese entry, submitted by Kraft Foods Ltd., Grunthal, placed fifth in competition for square type cheddar cheese. These results were announced by C.H.P. Killick, Dairy Commissioner for the province. The other two provinces in the prize winning classes were Alberta and Ontario. "Mote than thirty of our exhibitors were in the prize money," Mr. Killick states, "which inditates the uniformity of the product throu out the province." "Another significant point," he added, "is that the majority of our butter was tade in June - and its keeping ouality is a credit to the fine grade of cream that went into its production." The Rapid City Creamery, owned by Canada Packers Limited, is the creamery which won the Championship Ribbon, the Reserve Championship and the highest aggregate stores in all sections.
