Overtime wins and losses appear in both the W and L columns, as well as the OTW and OTL columns in a team’s conference record. Shootouts will only occur if a conference game remains tied after the lone overtime, which is now 3-on-3, with the shootout winner earning two points and the loser getting one point, the same as an overtime win and loss. THIS WEEK’S GAMES NCHC NEWS & NOTES RUNNING IT BACK: All three NCHC series this weekend are rematches Friday, Feb. 5 from January, but only one is a rematch from last weekend. Miami and *Miami at No. 5/6 Minnesota Duluth, 6:07 p.m. CT No. 5/6 Minnesota Duluth both make the trek from Oxford to Duluth to *Western Michigan at No. 4/5 St. Cloud State, 7:37 p.m. CT meet again Friday and Saturday, after the Bulldogs swept Miami in Oxford *No. 9/10 Omaha at Denver, 7:07 p.m. MT (TV: Altitude) last weekend. UMD is 4-0-0 against the RedHawks this season and 9-1-0 in its last 10 meetings with Miami. Saturday, Feb. 6 *Miami at No. 5/6 Minnesota Duluth, 4:07 p.m. CT *Western Michigan at No. 4/5 St. Cloud State, 6:07 p.m. CT FAMILIAR FOES: A second series this weekend features teams that *No. 9/10 Omaha at Denver, 6:07 p.m. MT squared off only two weeks ago as No. 9/10 Omaha travels to Colorado TV: CBS Sports Network for two games with Denver. The Mavericks and Pioneers split in Omaha on Jan. 23-24, with UNO’s win in the finale snapping a 19-game winless streak against the Pioneers (0-16-3). However, Omaha is just 2-18-2 all- LAST WEEK’S RESULTS time at Denver. Friday, Jan. 29 The third NCHC series this weekend has Western Michigan visiting No. 4/5 *No. 6/6 Minnesota Duluth 2, at Miami 1 St. Cloud State for their fifth and sixth meetings this season. WMU is 3-1- *No. 2/3 North Dakota 6, at No. 9/9 Omaha 2 0 against the Huskies in 2020-21, splitting with SCSU in the Pod while *No. 20 Denver at Colorado College, Postponed sweeping the Huskies in Kalamazoo back on Jan. 15-16 with 6-2 and 3-1 victories. Saturday, Jan. 30 *No. 6/6 Minnesota Duluth 6, at Miami 3 POLL POSITIONS: Three NCHC teams now rank in the top five of the *at No. 9/9 Omaha 5, No. 2/3 North Dakota 4 USCHO.com Poll after St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth slid up a spot, *No. 20 Denver at Colorado College, Postponed while Omaha remained at No. 9, tying its best ranking of the season and giving the NCHC four teams in the top 10. No other conference has more than two. On the flip side, Denver did fall out of the USCHO Top-20 for *Conference game the first time since Sept. 29, 2014, a run of 159 consecutive polls being ranked. The four ranked NCHC teams in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll tie with Hockey East for the most ranked teams. (page 10) ROAD RULES: Road teams went 3-1-0 last weekend in the NCHC and are NCHC.tv now 15-14-1 (.517) in the NCHC since play resumed in 2021 post-Pod. Eichel currently ranks sixth in the NHL with 51 points and Pastrnak ranks fourth in the league with 54 points. The Sabres are 6-6-1 against the rest of their division. Buffalo has given up 28 power-play goals, killing 74.8% of opponent chances. The Bruins are 8-4-3 against Atlantic Division opponents. Boston is fifth in the league averaging 5.7 assists per game, led by Brad Marchand with 0.9. Boston knocked off Buffalo 3-2 in the last meeting between these teams on Nov. 21.
