I am especially thankful for the wisdom, instruction, and support I received from my faculty supervisor, Dr. Michael Wilder. I greatly appreciate his guidance throughout this project. I would also like to thank Dr. Shane Parker, Dr. Timothy Paul Jones, and the entire Ed.D. faculty at Southern Seminary. What I have learned from them throughout this program and thesis writing will take a lifetime to process and apply. Next, I would like to thank my church family at Parkview Church. The pastors, elders, and young adults provided abundant inspiration, encouragement, and financial support to make this project possible. Thank you to the case study churches that hosted me for visits. They generously opened their churches and homes so I could learn from their amazing leadership development programs. Their passion for Jesus and commitment to train the next generation of church leaders has inspired me. I also received help from some excellent editors. Dr. Nathan Gunter provided much needed encouragement, feedback, and guidance at important moments throughout the project, for which I am grateful. My family has been my greatest support of encouragement during this research and writing project. My mom and my two brothers, Matt and Paul, along with others of my extended family have sacrificed much for me and have always believed in me. Special thanks to Pat Hancock, my mom, who was a fantastic traveling companion on two of the case study visit trips and a constant source of support. Even before it all started, she ix provided inspiration by encouraging me to “Follow your dreams!” I also want to thank God for giving me fourteen years with my dad, Alan Hancock, before taking him home. I recognize the powerful role model he provided me through faithfully loving his family, God, and the local church. Finally, I am humbled by God’s favor and grace given to me through Christ.
