We look forward to working with both of them. I thank Deputies Mary Lou McDonald and Noel Rock for their contributions to the work of the committee. I believe Deputy Mary Lou McDonald was a member of the committee for seven years, while Deputy Noel Rock was a member since the last general election. We wish them well in their other activities. Deputy David Cullinane: I commend an Teachta Mary Lou McDonald for her work on the committee. She was also a member during the last Dáil. She was a formidable and very con- structive member of the committee. Perhaps we might write to the two Deputies who served as members of the committee to thank them for their contributions. On behalf of the committee I welcome the Minister and Ms Magahy to the committee. I draw attention to the fact that by virtue of section 17(2)(l) of the Defamation Act 2009, witnesses are protected by absolute privilege in respect of their evidence to this committee. However, if they are directed by the committee to cease giving evidence on a particular matter and continue to so do, they are entitled thereafter only to qualified privilege in respect of their evidence.
