Decent juvenile/young adult/light reading. Interesting ideas, no plot beyond 'crash on alien planet and how to survive.'By AlinDecent juvenile/young adult science fiction; ie., no cussing, sex, battles, existential dilemnas. An idealized family gets stranded on a strange planet in the first few pages, then you're told how they survive and adapt for rest of the book. Interesting ideas for the alien planet, but the limitation of the plot starts get repetitious by halfway. Do not expect any resolution to their situation. I was also annoyed when on the last page the authors throw a out a surprise hook - it's obviously meant to be a series. A second annoyance, partially my fault, was that the blurbs imply this is a book is part of the "Boundary Series." It's not. It's in the "Boundary Universe" since much time has passed since the Boundary trilogy and it's a completely different character. I might have still bought it, but if I'd read the information closer I would have realized it wasn't a continuation of the story in the first three books.7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. I really enjoyed this bookBy BlueI really enjoyed this book! I like everything Eric Flint writes, this was no exception. I'm looking forward to seeing the characters and the planet they are stranded on develop more depth with the next book.6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Seriously ? calling this another in the Boundary series?By Dan Y.First off I absolutely love the original Boundary book it's one of my top go to books for a nice re-read when the mood strikes , the second and third while not on par with the first still didn't disappoint. This one however is a joke. Think Lost in Space meets Swiss family Robinson centering around under 14 kids with a friendly but very predictable alien sidekick. You get rather tired quickly of parents constantly correcting and going over the same issues with the usual perfect and brilliant children, you keep waiting for a plot to gel up into something that would make this worth reading which never happens. I'm doubting Eric Flint had much to do with this tragedy except having his name tagged on to move this thing off the bargain bin where it belongs . I strongly suggest if your interested wait a while as the the price is going to drop fast NEW ENTRY IN THE BEST-SELLING BOUNDARY SERIES. Stranded humans must adapt alien technology to survive on a dangerous planet.Lost in the dark, half a year into their journey to the colony world of Tantalus, Sakura Kimei, her family, and her best friend, the alien "Bemmie" nicknamed Whips, are torn from the safety of their colony ship. In a crippled lifeboat, they had one chance to find a habitable world. But even then, they would find that their apparent salvation was a world of a thousand secrets.Praise for previous books in this series:“. fast-paced sci-fi espionage thriller . light in tone and hard on science . .” —Publishers Weekly on Boundary“The whole crew from Flint and Spoor's Boundary are back. Tensions run high throughout the Ceres mission . a fine choice for any collection.” —Publishers Weekly on Threshold“[P]aleontology, engineering, and space flight, puzzles in linguistics, biology, physics, and evolution further the story, as well as wacky humor, academic rivalries, and even some sweet romances.” —School Library Journal on Boundary About the AuthorEric Flint is a modern master of alternate history fiction, with over three million books in print in his Ring of Fire series.
