  • Pricing Cloud Iaas Services Based on a Hedonic Price Index
Pricing cloud IaaS services based on a Hedonic Price Index Persefoni Mitropoulou1, Evangelia Filiopoulou1, Christos Michalakelis1 and Mara Nikolaidou1 1Department of Informatics and Telematics, Harokopio University of Athens, 9 Omirou str, Tavros, Athens, Greece {persam, evangelf, michalak, mara} @hua.gr Keywords: Cloud Computing, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Pricing models, Hedonic Price Indices. Abstract: Cloud computing, as an innovative business model, has experienced rapid diffusion across the international business world, offering many benefits to both the demand and the supply side of the ICT market. In particular, the public cloud approach receives more attention and the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model is expected to be the fastest growing model of public cloud computing, as it is considered to be a very good solution for companies needing the control of fundamental computing resources, such as memory, computing power and storage capacity. Currently, the battle for a dominant market share grows the competition among cloud providers and leads to the development of new pricing schemes, in order to meet the market demand. However, the choice of the cheapest cloud hosting provider depends exclusively on the clients’ needs and this is why prices for cloud services are a result of a multidimensional function shaped by the service’s characteristics. Into that context, this paper summarizes the findings of an initial work on the construction of a price index based on a hedonic pricing method, taking into account different factors of IaaS cloud computing services, including two of the most important players in the cloud market, Google and Microsoft Azure. The aim of this study is to provide price indices both on a continent level and globally, in an effort to investigate differences in pricing policies in different marketplaces.

  • International Qualifications 4116 EN – TI-31-12-754-EN-C
EN EN international qualifications 4116 EN An increasing number of qualifications – certificates and diplomas – are awarded at international level, outside the – TI-31-12-754-EN-C jurisdiction of national authorities. These ‘non-State’ qualifications have been developed and are awarded by a wide range of bodies, organisations and companies addressing various purposes. What unites this extreme variety of qualifications is that they are not restricted to a particular national system or territory. They are all qualifications whose exchange value is defined outside traditional national qualifications systems. This raises some key questions and challenges for policy-makers as well as users – be they individual citizens or employers. This report is a first effort to increase transparency in this field, notably by pointing to existing sources and clarifying the concepts to be used for mapping and analysis. Background 1.1 Our Perspective on Disaster Recovery A key component of your overall Business Continuity Plan is ensuring that you can manage, maintain and recover access and usability of your mission critical IT applications and services in the event of a disaster. In the most basic form this aspect of disaster recovery requires: Recovery Site - an environment, logically and physically separate to production that can take over the operation of your mission critical IT applications in case of a disaster. Data Synchronization – a way of keeping the recovery site environment up to date by way of real time replication of production systems and data. Accessibility – ensuring your end users can access this environment in order to quickly resume normal operations. Activation – a means of activating your DR environment when the unthinkable happens.
