DCAC is dedicated to providing case-management services to those individuals who often have little or no access to advocacy when appealing the denial of a Pension Plan disability benefit. They use case-management experience to guide your case through the maze of paperwork, filings, appeals, rulings, and regulations to take the pressure off you. They will answer any questions you may have about CPP and will contact your doctors and get the medical records required to support your claim. DCAC will develop and collect the information it takes to present your case before the Canada Pension Plan adjudicators, and will advocate for you in hearings before the Review Tribunal or Pension Appeals Board.

The ALS Society of Saskatchewan offers many services to their clients such as a Client Services Coordinator who provides information and education on care and management, as well as information on health care services and social and community resources. They can also make assessments of a client’s needs and advocate for the client with physicians, home care, and other services. The Client

Services Coordinator can provide bereavement support and assist with the grieving process. The ALS Society of Saskatchewan runs two support groups for persons living with ALS and their family, friends, and caregivers. They have a library with books, videos, brochures, with information about ALS and coping with disabilities, and other information. The library also has booklets on strategies for breathing, eating, drinking, and swallowing, as well as information on communication and mobility.

The Cancer Patient Lodge provides cancer patients and their companions a place to stay while undergoing treatment. The Lodge provides board and room in a supportive environment for out-of-town patients. A nominal fee will be charged. The Lodge accommodates 28 people in 10 double and 7 single rooms as well as having 2 special needs rooms. Meals are served cafeteria style. If needed, transportation between the Lodge and the cancer centre is provided. There is no parking at the lodge.

The Irene and Leslie Dube Centre of Care’s goal is to make this breast centre one that can offer the people of Saskatchewan the best up to date standard of care in breast health. They have state of the art equipment for better detection of breast cancer. They have a dedicated health care team that is specialized in breast imaging and they have limited their number of radiologists and technologists working at the Centre of Care so that their level of expertise is at its best. The Centre works in partnership with the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency by providing digital mammography to women who meet the criteria. Referral for a digital mammogram is through the Screening Program for Breast Cancer. They also work in partnership with the Health Quality Council as they establish the direction they need to go to further improve breast care within our province.

The Screening Program for Breast Cancer provides accurate information and complete instruction on fertility awareness and natural family planning. The Sympto- thermal test is extremely effective as a method of pregnancy prevention, yet free of side effects commonly associated with other contraceptive methods. Fertility awareness information is also beneficial for those planning a pregnancy or experiencing difficulty conceiving. They also provide LAM information and instruction for postpartum and Breastfeeding women. There are also five satellite centres in , Yorkton, , Prince Albert and North

The Early Childhood Intervention Program is a home-based program for families of children with disabilities, or who are at risk for developing a disability. They offer the services of an interventionist who visits the home to work cooperatively with the family and child. Holds parent group meetings. They also have a toy lending library for clients. Applications must be made to admission into program. The Program is open to children ages birth to 6 years. Their hours are: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday- Friday. The SCEP Centre provides a comprehensive remedial program for families with young children who have communication and behaviour problems. Native Health Services assists clients in finding and maintaining a healthy, well- balanced lifestyle. Responding to clients with an awareness of cultural and spiritual diversity, Native Health Services provides an alternative for clients seeking traditional Aboriginal approaches to health care. Counselling services are designed to reflect the importance of nature, spirituality, prayer and the circle. They speak to the four primary points of the medicine circle - physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. They promote the traditional, humble way of life. An Elder plays a key role in counseling on lifestyle management.

Education for Care Providers - focuses on care providers who interact with persons with diabetes, their families and communities so they are knowledgeable about self-management education strategies, diabetes care and diabetes prevention. 4. Diabetes Surveillance - focuses on continuous surveillance of diabetes and its complications to support planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and services.

They assist with medical appointments, grocery shopping, dental appointments, personal shopping, social functions, Adult Day programs, Alzheimer programs, Dialysis appointments, and Day surgeries. They can also take people to the airport and do luggage check-in and escort you through security and to the departure gate. They are there for special needs assistance or accompaniment and they are walker and wheelchair friendly. Clients need to be able to self-transfer.
