EXECUTIVE SUMMARY  002 Patron of Copenhagen 2021

Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Denmark is the Patron of Copenhagen 2021, the greatest and most inclusive LGBTI+ event ever held in Denmark, celebrating WorldPride and EuroGames simultaneously for the first time.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY  003 Arts & Culture : Aims & impact

Our Arts & Culture programming is never without agenda or intention. We want to surprise, provoke and embrace, to generate and enthuse passion and to create physical plat- forms for LGBTI+ lives and challenges in new and daring ways.

Working across both Copenhagen and Malmö with established cultural institutions, grassroots movements, independent artists and everything in-between, we strive to create a pro- gram that is both socially and cultur- ally sustainable.

We’ve built an Arts & Culture program with space for both seriousness and shine, that sets the stage for rep- resentation on international and local scope, embodying both structural and personal experiences.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  010 Huset 2021 Main House Where LGBTI+ youth is the center of attention Date & time : Saturday 14–Friday 20 August 2021 Weekdays : 1000–2200 · Weekends : 1200–2230 Venue : HusetKBH Target group : 13–18 years, LGBTI+ and their allies. 18+ only by invitation.

The more than 50-year-old cultural institu- tion, Huset, situated in downtown Copen- hagen draws on the homely and welcoming atmosphere that already exists there.

Huset 2021 Main House is a space to explore and develop, and perhaps celebrate, what it means to be a young LGBTI+ person, ac- knowledging the opportunities as well as the challenges.

During the entire event ‘House Parents’ will be present and ready to talk and to create a sense of safety that ideally makes a home. The House also evokes the feeling of a Dan- ish ‘højskole’, where self-reflection and im- provement is at the core of the experience. Here, the volunteers are not much older than the guests, and make sure to work on an even plane with the visitors.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  011 The entire Huset 2021 Main House will have five individual stages including a cinema. Every stage area will be transformed into a room of the house, each with its own theme and gravity. In The Foyer we welcome with introductory talks and 1 :1’s, we are creative in The Garage and eat together in The Dining Room.

Your Room at the top floor is reserved for the most sensitive discussions and performances, whilst there will be movie screenings in the Living Room. The movie program is created by the Danish LGBTI+ film festival MIX Copenhagen and shows cinematic representations of the acronym, bending gender and showcasing diversity.

We are setting up communal dining every night free for young guests (limited availability).

Huset 2021 Main House is alcohol and smoke free.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  012 Huset 2021 Front Yard Where LGBTI+ youth is the center of attention Date & time : Saturday 14–Saturday 21 August 2021 Weekdays : 1400–2200 · Weekends : 1200–2300 Venue : Nybrogade Target group : 13–21 years LGBTI+ and their allies. +21 only by invitation.

Just around the corner from Huset 2021 Main House you will find the Huset 2021 Front Yard. The outdoor area at the end of Nybrogade opens to a green, welcoming space right along the canal, facing the par- liament.

Front Yard is a place for LGBTI+ young peo- ple to spread their wings in all their colors. It is an active space for recognition and empowerment, where voices are given the opportunity to be heard – loud and clear.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  013 All young LGBTI+ identities and allies alike will feel included and free to engage in talks, networking, friendship-speed dating. Front Yard will set the stage for programming created by a wide range of LGBTI+ and other political and humanitarian youth organisa- tions, who will get the opportunity to take the stage, create dialogue and share their activism and agenda.

In the evenings, DJ-sets, occasional guest appearances and live musicians will take the stage and turn Front Yard into a festive cele- bration of diversity.

On the day leading up to the WorldPride Parade on Saturday 21 August we’ll host a Parade Preparation Workshop with an out- door clothing-swap station, created by Low Impact Posse, makeup from M.A.C. Cosmet- ics and workstations for making posters, banners, slogans and badges. In the afternoon of the WorldPride Parade, Front Yard will be transformed into a chill- zone to cool down and take it all in. Front Yard will be decorated in true gar- den-party fashion with lush, green hedges and lounge furniture to soak up the August sun.

The program at Front Yard is constantly evolving in collaboration with LGBTI+ youth organisations.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  014 Fluid Festival A space to celebrate women and non-binary Identities Date & time : Friday 13–Sunday 22 August 2021 Friday 13 : 1400–0000, Saturday 14 : 1000–0100, Sunday 15–Thursday 19 : 1000–0000, Friday 20 : 1000–0100, Saturday 21 : 1800–0100, Sunday 22 : 1200–1600 Venue : Gammel Strand Torv and Nybrogade Target group : Women, female-identified, non-conforming and non-binary identities

Focusing in on the fluidity of gender expres- sion, sexual orientation, and gender identity, Fluid Festival offers up an inclusive space for women, female-identified, non-conform- ing and non-binary identities.

Fluid Festival is Copenhagen 2021’s second largest venue. With space for 5000 guests, we will proudly move through a colourful nine-day program of concerts, debates, speeches, performances, and installations. The program will be a representation of women and non-binary identities, all em- bracing, respecting and challenging the understanding of gender expression.

EVENT DESCRIPTION  015 Fluid Festival is located along the canal on Gammel Strand, one of the most beautiful places in the center of Copenhagen. Gam- mel Strand has a rich history of the noncon- forming : from women claiming their inde- pendence by selling fish along the shore and to Natalie Zahle moving her expanding and revolutionary girls school into the building that now houses a modern art institution. Gammel Strand can also boast itself with being one of – if not the – the sunniest pla- zas in Copenhagen, perfect for enjoying in the August sun.

With two stages (one large concert stage and one smaller open stage), three large lounge areas, dining areas, drinks bars, a wide ramp along the canal and rafts floating in it, Fluid Festival will be an opportunity for experiences, meetings, presence, love, cele- bration – a unique opportunity to be exactly who you are in the safe understanding that You Are Included.

COPENHAGEN Event Collaborations

Asylum, Art and Action

The cultural event Asylum, Art and Action is a celebration of LGBTI Refugees. The event is hosted and curated by Danish refugee organisation LGBT Asylum and Freemuse in collaboration with the renowned cultural house Union in Nørrebro, the creative and intercultural heart of Copenhagen.

The Tuesday 17 August evening program offers a diverse and engaging artistic pro- gramme, featuring both local and interna- tional artists and speakers aimed at the visibility of LGBTI+ Refugees. The central focus is to build community and support for LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees, and to strongly underline their right of free expres- sion in a political setting where it is all too often denied and overlooked.

With a focus on cultural hybridity, the event will invite guests to explore the evening’s theme as an essential element in a living, breathing Copenhagen, and to gain both international and local insights through en- gaging experiences in the field between cul- ture and knowledge.

The evening will include an optional dinner catered by Send Flere Krydderier, a socioec- onomic restaurant located inside Union.
