BERLOCQ-A. MARTIN, ELIAS-FOGNINI SQUARE OFF IN SEMI-FINALS

Day 6 Preview: The semi-finals at the Konzum Croatia Open Umag on Saturday feature of Argentina against of Slovakia and Gastao Elias of Portugal against No. 4 seed , who reached the final here in 2013 (l. to Robredo). All four players are trying to reach their first ATP World Tour final of the season. Martin and Elias have never reached an ATP World Tour final.

In the opening match on Centre Court, Berlocq looks for his second win against Martin. Two years ago here in the 1R, Berlocq won 76 63. The 33-year-old Berlocq is appearing in his first ATP World Tour semi-final since February 2015 on home soil in (l. to Nadal). Berlocq is trying to reach his fourth career ATP World Tour final (2-1), first since winning in Oeiras in 2014. Martin is making his ATP World Tour semi-final debut. The 26-year-old Slovak is ranked No. 124 and he beat countryman Martin Klizan in the second round, saving five match points.

In the next match on, Elias and Fognini square off for the first time. The 25-year-old Elias is appearing in his second straight ATP World Tour semi-final after reaching his maiden final four last week in Bastad (l. to Verdasco). He comes in ranked a career-high No. 72. Fognini is appearing in his fifth semi-final in Umag. His lone final came three years ago. Fognini is also attempting to reach his 11th career ATP World Tour final (3-7), the first since Hamburg last year (l. to Nadal). His last title came in Vina del Mar in February 2014 (d. L. Mayer).
