Fifth Annual Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit to Be Held Virtually on Wednesday, July 14 For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Thursday, July 8, 2021 MeGan KoGut (651) 312-3439 FIFTH ANNUAL MINNESOTA WILD LEADERSHIP SUMMIT TO BE HELD VIRTUALLY ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 14 SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild today announced the Fifth Annual Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit, presented by West Bend Mutual Insurance, will be held virtually on Wednesday, July 14 from 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m. High school hockey captains and their coaches From Minnesota and around the country are invited to participate in the Leadership Summit. This event is a great opportunity For hockey captains and coaches to learn From a wide-ranging, inspiring and influential group of leaders. The Leadership Summit is Free oF charge and is open to the First 500 boys and girls high school hockey captains and coaches. Teams will be accepted on a First-come, First-served basis. Coaches can register their teams at wild.com/leadership. “We are thrilled to be able to host the Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit virtually again after the success of last year’s,” said Wayne Petersen, Director oF Community Relations and Hockey Partnerships. “The virtual Summit allows us to bring industry leaders, not just from the State of Hockey, but across the country to the homes of our high school hockey players and coaches For a great learning experience.” The Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit will be hosted on Zoom. Registrants will receive the Zoom meeting link after they register. Coaches and captains from the same team are encouraged (not required) to join the Zoom webinar together from the same location while practicing safe social distancing procedures.     Turnbull Hockey Pool for Each year, Turnbull students participate in several fundraising initiatives, which we promote as a way to develop a sense of community, leadership and social responsibility within the students. Last year's grade 7 and 8 students put forth a great deal of effort campaigning friends and family members to join Turnbull's annual NHL hockey pool, raising a total of $1750 for a charity of their choice (the United Way). This year's group has decided to run the hockey pool for the benefit of Help Lesotho, an international development organization working in the AIDS-ravaged country of Lesotho in southern Africa. Alex Woken and Patti Marshall of the University of Minnesota, Presley Norby and Maddie Rowe of the University of Wisconsin and Haley Mack of Bemidji State University were selected by the Minnesota Whitecaps in this year’s draft. The first and second rounds aired on April 28 while the final three rounds were concluded on April 29. Woken earned the first nod of the former WCHA skaters. The Fargo, N.D., native heard her name called in the first round as the Minnesota Whitecaps claimed the 2019-20 WCHA Student-Athlete of the Year with the fifth-overall pick. Marshall followed her former teammate when the Whitecaps selected her in the second round with the 11th-overall pick. Norby joins Woken and Marshall on the Whitecaps roster after Minnesota selected the Wisconsin forward in the third round with the 17th-overall pick. Bemidji State became the third university to see one of their players selected in this year’s draft as Mack went to the Whitecaps with 23rd-overall pick. Rowe rounded out the handful of Whitecaps draftees as the 2019 Isobel Cup Champions chose the former Badgers defender in the fifth round with the 28th -overall pick.
