Credaf bod pob disgybl cyfwerth â'i gilydd ond rwyf hefyd yn derbyn bod plant yn wahanol a bod ganddynt yr hawl i lwyddo mewn gwahanol ffyrdd. Dymunaf i blant adael Ysgol Craig y Deryn yn ddisgyblion hyderus gyda chariad at addysg, sgiliau trafod da, hygrededd personol ac yn abl i wynebu sialens. Dymunaf i’r disgyblion allu dysgu’n annibynnol yn ogystal â defnyddio sgiliau cydweithio; fod yn ymwybodol o’r safonau a ddisgwylir ganddynt; fod yn gwybod sut i wella eu gwaith a datrys problemau’n greadigol; fod â’r gallu i ddefnyddio’r adnoddau maent eu hangen ar gyfer datblygu; fod yn gwybod beth i’w wneud os ydynt yn wynebu anhawster; ac yn medru defnyddio sgiliau ymchwilio i ddod o hyd i atebion. Er mwyn i hyn fod yn bosibl, rhaid i’r cwricwlwm eu hysgogi, fod yn aml-synhwyrol, a rhaid i’r addysgu fod wedi ei gynllunio fel bod y plant yn weithredol yn y broses o ddysgu yn hytrach nag yn derbyn popeth ar blât. Rwyf yn awyddus i’r cwricwlwm fod yn un eang ac yn llawn o brofiadau cyfoethog i’r plant, ac yn un a wnaiff roi cyfle iddynt ddatblygu i’w llawn botensial. Mae’r ysgol a’r cartref yn bartneriaeth. Mrs, Jennifer Bradbury - Pennaeth 3 www.YsgolCraigyDeryn.org www.YsgolCraigyDeryn.org 4 WELCOME I want Craig y Deryn School to be colourful and modern, which respects its history and culture, but moves on steadily and determined towards excellence, to prepare the pupils for their future as citizens. I believe that each pupil is as equal as each other and also accept that each child is different and has the right to succeed in different ways. I want children to leave Craig y Deryn School as confident pupils with a love for education, with good discussion skills and personal plausibility and able to face challenges. I want children to be able to learn independently, as well as use collaborative skills; be aware of the standards expected of them; know how to improve their work and solve problems creatively; have the ability to use the resources they need to develop; know what to do if they face difficulties; and be able to use research skills to find answers. For this to be possible, the curriculum must motivate, be comprehensive, and the teaching must be planned, so that children are actively involved in the process of teaching rather than accept everything on a plate. I am eager for the curriculum to be a vast one, full of interesting things and experiences for the children, and one that will give them the opportunity to develop to their full potential. The school and home is a partnership. I would like you as parents and guardians to be proud of the school. I believe that the school should give you the opportunity to understand and be a part of the teaching process so that you can help your children outside school. My vision for Craig y Deryn School places the children’s needs above all else, and I am passionate in the belief that the pupils deserve the best possible educational opportunities that we can provide them. Matters arising from the previous meeting (11.10.17): a) Sion Bryn (Youth Service Officer) – has confirmed, in a telephone conversation with Geraint Edwards, that the money which was left after the Youth Club in Llwyngwril folded would be transferred to the Community Council’s bank account, to be used to buy equipment for the Play Park in Llwyngwril. b) Lack of car parking spaces in Llwygwril – letter has been received from Gwynedd Council Parking Officer, following a site visit with Geraint Edwards and Huw Davies to the car park near Bod Idris, Llwyngwril, confirming that arrangements are in place to tidy up the two car parks in Llwyngwril – in January 2018. Gwynedd Council Officers will be contacting the owners of the cars which have not been moved in a while. c) Ysgol Craig y Deryn Governors – Gwynedd Council have confirmed that they have received David Griffiths’ contact details. 5. Correspondence: a) Public Toilets in Llwyngwril: Gwynedd Council have contacted the Community Council to ask if we wish to take more responsibility or even take over the whole provision, or continue to be part of the partnership scheme? BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT 1.1. The strategy ‘Excellent Primary Education for Children in Gwynedd ’ was adopted unanimously by the Council in April 2009. The vision of the strategy is to “provide education of the best possible quality that will provide the county’s children with the experiences, skills and confidence to develop into bilingual, successful and well-rounded citizens” and the aims of the strategy are to: • Provide the County’s children with the best possible experiences and opportunities by ensuring classes of appropriate size and high quality school leadership; • Aim to promote and strengthen the Welsh language – as an educational and social medium – by presenting new proposals for primary education within the County; • Respond pro-actively and creatively to the needs and opportunities provided by the current education system through fostering a collaborative, sustainable and practical long term plan; • Ensure that children gain the greatest positive from education spending within the county by fully utilising all available resources - whether human, technological or financial; • Improve resources and buildings to create a learning environment of the best possible quality. • Develop our schools into establishments that are central to community activity. 1.2.     RTPI Practice Advice SEPTEMBER 2020 PLACEMAKING IN WALES Learning from Wales Planning Award winners demonstrating aspects of good placemaking rtpi.org.uk RTPI Practice Advice September 2020 FOREWORD The Planning profession has often played a secondary role to others in the built environment in respect of placemaking. This Practice Advice Note provides some excellent case studies to show that planners can be extremely influential in setting the context and driving successful place outcomes. The interdisciplinary understanding and training of planners is often not fully appreciated; nor is our willingness to work with other specialists to seek good place outcomes. This is core to what we do. No project exists in isolation and our understanding of context to a site is key. This may be physical, social, cultural or environmental. As a planning profession this is integral to our work. In addition, the need to consider and drive climate mitigation in our built environment through a holistic appreciation of place has never been more important. Taking a local approach to transportation, energy supply, provision of green infrastructure and public realm is vital to give our places an identity and sense of community. In this respect this collection of exemplar projects makes a significant contribution to articulating 'what good looks like' and I hope it will assist in giving practical expression to the aims of the Placemaking Wales Charter. Some of the plans decided upon will be implemented during the financial year 2013/14, namely: 1. Ysgol Craig y Deryn to open on 1 September 2013: closure of Abergynolwyn (already closed 1 April 2011), Bryncrug, Llanegryn and Llwyngwril Schools on 31 August 2013. 2. Ysgol Aberdyfi : closure 31 August 2013 3. Following deliberation over officers’ comments, some Primary Headteachers and the Cabinet Member, consultation will now commence on the two distribution options below and Appendix 2 is enclosed that draws attention to the financial impact on individual schools.
