New London Horse Show Series Rules and Regulations

1. New London Horse Show, Coyote Crossing Cattle Company. LLC., Bedford Co. 4-H , RJ Pleasure horses LLC., show sponsors, employees, volunteers and other staff members affiliated with the New London Horse Show will not be held accountable for any loss or damage to animals, spectators, or personal property.

2. The show committee reserves the right to cancel, combine, or divide any class(es) that it feels necessary.

3. Show personnel have the right to excuse any person or horse that is endangering spectators or show exhibitors.

4. JUDGES’ DECISION IS FINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. All headgear must be in good operating condition and must be ASTM approved for equine activities.

6. Exhibitors must sign a waiver at time of entry.

7. Anyone on national suspension may not transport horses to this show and may only participate as a spectator.

8. Ribbons for 1st through 6th for each class.

9. High-Points are 6-5-4-3-2-1 for same horse/rider combination.

10. A 2 minute gate call and a 4 minute tack change will be enforced.

11. You must be entered in the class prior to the gate call for that class.

12. NO alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed on premises.

13. You do not have to be a member of BRHF to enter a class. 14. *Blue Ridge Horse Force Sanctioned classes.

15. Stallions are allowed with stipulations. SHOW MANAGEMENT MUST BE MADE AWARE OF ANY STALLIONS ATTENDING THIS SHOW PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. No

youth may show or handle a stallion while on the grounds. Any stallion that shows ill behavior or dangerous behavior will beasked to vacate the premises

immediately. There are no exceptions.

16. (June show) The Powder Memorial Pony Pleasure class is open only to riders 17 &under. This is a perpetual trophy that must be returned the following year. (It has to won three years in a row same rider/pony combo before it will be retired) The class is judged on the most suitable pony to its rider. This pony will display characteristics that show its devotion to its rider through its manners and responsiveness to cues.

17. The New London Horse Show , Coyote Crossing Cattle Company, LLC.and its sponsors shall in no way, jointly or individually be liable or responsible for a

loss, accident, damage or loss of life that may occur to any exhibitor, owner, trainer, groom, stable, horse corporation, partnership, individual or spectator,

sustained while at the show and shall hold the show harmless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising from such loss and/or accidents. Entry onto the property will constitute acceptance of this policy.

18. Battle of The Barns Show is unique to the August dates. In addition to individuals competing as part of the series, you may also ride as a team for special

awards unique to this particular show. A team consists of 5 riders of any age and horses. Each team earns points as a team and team awards are given at

the end of the day based on point standings. A horse may be shared by 2 riders and count for points as long as the riders do not ride in the same division.

When a horse is shared by two riders, it must be designated on the entry form who the riders are on the shared horse and what division they are competing in. Teams must be declared two weeks before the show (forms will be available online). This show is also a fundraising show for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to the entry fees paid to New London Horse Show, each team is asked for a minimum donation of $30.00, designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 19. Pre-registration is encouraged. Registration forms can be submitted to [email protected] . All pre-registration forms are due by the Sunday prior to the show date. Registration will also be done the day of the show. Payment is due the day of the show. Please have a copy of your coggins to leave with the show office . There will be a $40 fee for any checks returned by our bank .

20. The Ranch Boxing class will consists of a single cow worked (boxing) on the end of the arena. The time limit for the class is sixty (60) seconds.

a) This class is designed to demonstrate and measure a horse’s ability to do cow work. Holding the saddle horn is permitted in this class. b) A Superior Ranch Boxing Horse should be in complete control at all times. Showing natural cow sense along with softness of face and body with rider’s cues. Horse should stop using haunches. Turns should be quick and snappy. c) This class will be judged on run, rate, control, degree of difficulty and eye appeal. 1. There will be no schooling between cows if a new cow is awarded. 2. The rider will face the cow end of the arena and call for a cow. Each exhibitor upon receiving a cow, shall hold that cow on the prescribed end of the arena for one (1) minute, demonstrating the ability of the horse and rider to control the cow. Time shall begin when the gate closes behind the cow after being let into the arena. Timing will be done by the announcer or judge starting when the cow is turned into the arena. At one (1) minute, the announcer will call time. The judge may blow a whistle at any time for the contestant to cease work for safety reasons.

21. RA NCH C UTTIN G RULES

This class is designed to show a horse ’s ability to separate a cow from the herd, hold that cow away from herd , then drive that cow away from herd and to pen it. This class is to be judged on the horses natural cow ability, agility and to respond softly to the rider ’s cues to help rein horse into position to hold cow from herd, on the way to pen and to pen cow. Horse should display softness of handle and quietness in herd. Horse and Rider should work as a team, seeming effortless to work together. a) There is a two and one half (2½ ) minute time limit . b) Time will begin when a rider crosses a timeline just prior to entering the herd (minimum of ten head ). The rider will then quietly separate one cow from the herd and work the cow , with the exhibitor and horse showing their ability to keep the cow from the herd . Upon herd work completion the cow shall be driven to the opposite end of the arena and penned . c) A whistle will be blown at the one minute point to let exhibitor know that one and one half minutes remain to complete the run . A contestant will be disqualified if he fails to pen the cow at the end of 2½ minutes , if the cow returns to the herd after it has been clearly separated from the herd or if the cow crosses back over the time /foul line when attempting to be penned.

RANCH ROPING RULES 22.

A) The intent of this class is to show the ability of the horse and rider

skill of handling cattle as if they were doctoring injured or sick cattle.

Cattle should be handled as calmly and slowly as possible. The judge

should judge this class as if the cattle belonged to him or her. Entry does

not have to separate their cow from herd and should not receive credit for separation from herd. When cow is separated from the herd there should

be no excessive running or cutting of the cow.

B) This is a judged event with a 90 second time limit. The rope must be

thrown and the contestant may throw only two loops. Any attempt by

exhibitor to trap, snare, or collar cow by holding onto the loop will be

cause for disqualification . A second rope may be used , but the total number of loops thrown may not exceed two (2). If a second loop is used

it must be recoiled. The Honda on the rope used must be of a factory

plastic breakaway design.
