2000 Nominating and Voting Statistics

A total of 427 Hugo nomination forms (130 electronic and 297 paper) were submitted; 81 of those were from Aussiecon 3 members. 20 nomination forms were eliminated as invalid because the person had joined Chicon 2000 after the January 31, 2000 deadline or was not a valid supporting or attending member of Aussiecon 3 or Chicon 2000, for a total of 407 valid nominating ballots.

Chicon 2000 received 1,101 final Hugo ballots. Thirty ballots were eliminated for various reasons (i.e., no signature), which left 1,071 valid ballots. There were 475 electronic ballots submitted. The Hugo ballot counting program was written by Jeffrey Copeland. In addition, the Big Heart Award was presented by to Robert Silverberg, and David Kyle presented the First Award to (who was not present). Ackerman turned over further administration of the Big Heart Award, for the 21st century, to David A. Kyle.
