Annual Coordination Meeting of the Institutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Jeddah

The heads of the OIC’s Institutions and Organs attended the “Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions” (ACMOI) held at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 8 December 2015.

He also underscored the significance of the meeting since it will positively contribute to ensuring that OIC is a result-oriented body while increasing its international image as a global political and socio- economic actor in a rapidly globalizing world.

Madam Madani also said the coordination would ensure the efficient allocation of resources and allow for better reporting back to the Council of Foreign Ministers.

Nigeria and Algeria qualify for Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Nigeria’s national team has won the first place after achieving a great victory over its Algerian counterpart in the final game. Both national teams have qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Algeria and Nigeria’s men's U-23 national football teams booked their places to the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games after reaching the final of the U-23 African Cup of Nations in Senegal.

First time Olympic qualification for Qatar Handball Team

The Qatari men's national handball team has qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after achieving a historic 28-19 victory over its Iranian counterpart in the final game of the Asian qualifiers for the Olympics.

This marks the first time the Qatari team has qualified for the Olympic Games.

Egypt's Hedaya Malak snatches Gold at the 2015 World Taekwondo Grand Prix; Qualifies to Rio

After defeating Spain’s Eva Calvo Gómez in the final of the championship held in Mexico City, Mexico, the Egyptian youngster Hedaya Malak has snatched the 57-kg gold medal in the final of 2015 World Taekwondo Grand Prix and secured herself a spot at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Malak who gained the third place in the world rankings, defeated the English Olympic champion in the semis.

Great Britain’s Jade Jones, who gained the third place in the world rankings and won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, came in third.
