Digging Deeper

This week, spend 20 to 30 minutes with God, your , a journal, and questions.

As you prepare to dig in to three letters from the Apostle Paul to two young men in ministry, Timothy and Titus, look into his words of mentoring and encouragement through two sets of lenses. First to the recipient, and then for how God wants to encourage you in ministering to others (Matthew 28:18-20).

Read I Timothy 4. Now, answer the following questions. • How does God want to stretch your faith and empower you to minister to others (vv. 1-6)? • How can you train yourself to be more like Christ (vv. 7-13)? • How can you better use the gifts God has given you (vv.14-16)?

Read 2 Timothy 4:1-8. Paul is charging Timothy as in the final words of a dying person, as his time of ministry is coming to an end. As you look over these verses, consider being Timothy. How does this change the way you receive it? How does it compel you to minister to others differently?

Read :1-11. Paul now is empowering a close friend, a young protégé, Titus. He is helping him as a young leader of an argumentative church. How would this passage be encouraging to you if you were Titus? How does it encourage you in your current status?

As we wrap up our time of digging deeper into God’s word, write down the things you need to stop, take a next step in, or begin a dialogue with someone over. Reflect, pray, and act.
