The wide distribution of B. florida in southern China is discussed under the context of habitat selection of the larvae. Meanwhile, comparing the adults and larvae between B. florida and Dendroleon esbenpeterseni Miller & Stange, 1999, extensive morphological similarities suggest that these two species may belong to a same genus. Key words: Myrmeleontiformia, larval morphology, larval biology, Oriental region Introduction Dendroleontini Banks, 1899 is a widely distributed tribe of antlions in all zoogeographical regions, but is absent in the Neotropics, and most diverse in the Old World. According to the Myrmeleontidae traditional classification (Stange 2004), Dendroleontini is placed in the subfamily Myrmeleontinae, including 36 genera and 190 species. Recently, Machado et al. (2019) established a new classification of Myrmeleontidae based on phylogenomics using anchored hybrid enrichment (AHE) sequencing data, and Dendroleontini under the traditional classification as in Stange (2004) was raised to be a subfamily, i.e., Dendroleontinae, which is divided into two tribes (i.e., Acantho- plectrini and Dendroleontini). -

ABSTRACT The owlflies (Family Ascalaphidae) belong to the Neuroptera but are often mistaken as dragonflies because of morphological characters. To date, only three mitochondrial genomes of Ascalaphidae, namely Libelloides macaronius; Ascaloptynx appendiculatus; Ascalohybris subjacens, are published in GenBank, meaning that they are greatly under-represented in comparison with the 430 described species reported in this family. In this study, we sequenced and described the complete mitochondrial genome of Suhpalacsa longialata (Neuroptera, Ascalaphidae). The total length of the S. longialata mitogenome was 15,911 bp, which is the longest known to date among the available family members of Ascalaphidae. However, the size of each gene was similar to the other three Ascalaphidae species. The S. longialata mitogenome included a transposition of tRNACys and tRNATrp genes and formed an unusual gene arrangement tRNACys-tRNATrp-tRNATyr (CWY). It is likely that the transposition occurred by a duplication of both genes followed by random loss of partial duplicated genes. This new species can be distinguished from other Dendroleon species by the following characters: the significantly larger size, the long abdomen in males, and the particular wing shape and markings. Dendroleon javanus Banks, 1914 was previously reported in China based on a misidentification; the Chinese specimens are actually Bullanga florida (Navás, 1913). An identification key and distribution map are provided for Dendroleon species recorded from China. Key words: Tibet, Dendroleontini, antlion Introduction The antlion genus Dendroleon Brauer, 1866 is one of the most widely distributed genera in the family Myrmeleontidae (Neuroptera). The adults of Dendroleon are similar to the genera Gatzara Navás, 1915 and Nepsalus Navás, 1914 in appearance; however, the latter mentioned genera have elongate anterior gonapophysis which is as long as or longer than posterior gonapophysis. Esben-Petersen (1923) revised the genus Dendroleon and recognized eight species worldwide at that time. There are now nineteen extant species listed in the genus (Stange, 2004).
