Hart had followed The Libertines to the North of England on the train with his Super 8 camera with a view to making a music video for the band. Hart would later fly out to Paris to direct the ‘For Lovers’ video to accompany the single Pete was on the verge of releasing with Wolfman in the spring. Pete was still playing solo gigs, advertising them on his website a day or two before they took place. He’d already recorded ‘For Lovers’ and was desperate to record the B-side; it was a beautiful song and he was convinced it would be a hit. He’d also finished recording the debut Babyshambles single. But Pete and Carl still wanted to write together. They needed to collaborate and bond after the debacle of their trip to the Welsh valleys, and they had a second Libertines album to write. So they decided to head to Paris. -

During this period, jazz was presented in a variety of ways in different venues, on four of which I focus: New Orleans-style jazz commonly performed for the same audiences in Rhythm Clubs and in concert halls (as shown by George Webb’s Dixielanders at the Red Barn public house and the King’s Hall); clubs hosting different styles of jazz on different nights of the week that brought in different audiences (such as the 100 Club on Oxford Street); clubs with a fixed stylistic ideology that changed venue, taking a regular fan base and musicians to different locations (such as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club); and jazz in theatres (such as the Little Theatre Club and Mike West- brook’s compositions for performance in the Mermaid Theatre). -

During 2013, we further grew our unmatched concerts global fan base by 10 million fans, attracting almost 60 million fans to our concerts. This tremendous growth fueled our sponsorship and ticketing businesses with Ticketmaster managing nearly 4400 million total tickets in 2013. Combined, we delivered a record year for revenue, AOI and free cash flow. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of our business model, establishing Live Nation as what we believe to be the number one player in each of our businesses, with concerts driving our flywheel, which is then monetized across our high margin on-site, sponsorship and ticketing businesses. Strong Fan Demand for Live Events We continue to see the tremendous power of live events, with strong global consumer demand. Research shows that live events are a high priority for discretionary spending, and over 80% of our fans surveyed indicate that they plan on attending the same or more events in 2014 as in 2013. Another sign of the strength of our business is that 85% of Live Nation’s fan growth came organically, from our promoting more shows in amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums; from launching new festivals; and from establishing operatioons in new markets. -
Dirty Pretty Things' Carl Barât Announced As Fifth Road to V Mentor
Dirty Pretty Things’ Carl Barât announced as Fifth Road to V Mentor Submitted by: onlinefire PR Wednesday, 9 April 2008 Virgin Mobile’s Road to V (http://www.roadtov.com/) in partnership with Sony Ericsson The final mentor for Virgin Mobile’s Road to V search for bands is confirmed. Song-writer, musician and DJ Carl Barât, formerly of The Libertines and current frontman of Dirty Pretty Things, is the final addition to the panel of advisers to the ‘next big thing’ in the UK’s biggest and best search for unsigned music (http://www.roadtov.com/)al talent - Road to V. The competition is now open and two bands, mentored by our very own panel of experts, will get to open the V Festival this summer, in Chelmsford and Stafford, on the 16th August. Unsigned bands (http://www.roadtov.com/) can go to www.roadtov.com and register their entry, upload their best track and tell us a bit about themselves. All the entries will then be judged by this year’s panel of music industry experts, which includes the just announced Carl Barât, Mags Revell, the promotor of V Festival, Mark Beaumont from NME, A&R man Sav Remzi and Paul Samuels from Crown Music Management. 14 bands will go through to the live stage of the competition – all of which will go on to play at either the Carling Academy in London or Liverpool, and each gig will be broadcast during the summer on Channel 4. Each judge will then give the unsigned bands (http://www.roadtov.com/) their pearls of wisdom to make it big in the music industry the viewers then decide who wins and gets the chance of a lifetime to open one of the UK’s biggest festivals. -

Is Rock Music in Decline? a Business Perspective
Jose Dailos Cabrera Laasanen Is Rock Music in Decline? A Business Perspective Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Bachelor of Business Administration International Business and Logistics 1405484 22nd March 2018 Abstract Author(s) Jose Dailos Cabrera Laasanen Title Is Rock Music in Decline? A Business Perspective Number of Pages 45 Date 22.03.2018 Degree Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Programme International Business and Logistics Instructor(s) Michael Keaney, Senior Lecturer Rock music has great importance in the recent history of human kind, and it is interesting to understand the reasons of its de- cline, if it actually exists. Its legacy will never disappear, and it will always be a great influence for new artists but is important to find out the reasons why it has become what it is in now, and what is the expected future for the genre. This project is going to be focused on the analysis of some im- portant business aspects related with rock music and its de- cline, if exists. The collapse of Gibson guitars will be analyzed, because if rock music is in decline, then the collapse of Gibson is a good evidence of this. Also, the performance of independ- ent and major record labels through history will be analyzed to understand better the health state of the genre. The same with music festivals that today seem to be increasing their popularity at the expense of smaller types of live-music events. Saint Motel Debut Uk Single ‘My Type’ Is out Now
SAINT MOTEL DEBUT UK SINGLE ‘MY TYPE’ IS OUT NOW Playlists include A list at Radio 2, B list at Radio 1 and XFM’s Daytime list WATCH ON YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyVPyKrx0Xo “Each of their songs announces itself with a flourish and no little élan, and there's a light sprinkling of Caribbean rhythms, tropical flavours and lounge-jazziness throughout.” – The Guardian “Jackson and his cohorts inject Caribbean lilts, stomping beats and lounge-jazz licks into giddy power-pop.” – The Washington Post Already a growing proposition in the States where they’ve played shows with the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Imagine Dragons, the Los Angeles quartet SAINT MOTEL are making a strong impression with their debut Parlophone track and first Top 40 single ‘My Type’. A record Track of the Day at Radio 1 and Record of the Week at Radio 2, it’s also been playlisted at Radio 2 (A list), Radio 1 (B list), XFM (Daytime list) and Absolute (B list). ‘My Type’ is an exuberant collision of gorgeous tropical horns and percussion, suave indie style and frontman A/J Jackson’s velveteen croon. Recalling the glam flair of the Seventies with elements of retro power-pop, SAINT MOTEL also possess a tongue-in- cheek twist on cynicism and irony that reflects their status as a Los Angeles band influenced by British culture. The single is the first new song that SAINT MOTEL have issued ahead of their upcoming EP which will be their first full UK release. Having recently introduced themselves to British audiences with London show at Club NME and The Lexington, they’ll return to these shows in November for a full tour: November 2nd – Brighton, The Haunt 5th – London, The 100 Club 6th – Sheffield, The Plug 8th – Bristol, The Lanes 13th – Manchester, The Ruby Lounge 14th – Leeds, Brudenell Social Club 15th – Newcastle, Think Tank 16th – Edinburgh, Electric Circus SAINT MOTEL’S debut album ‘Voyeur’ demonstrated a band that contrasts immediate, hook-fuelled pop melodies with leftfield subject matter. -
