DECEMBER 25, 2016 • olphglenview.org 3 seek, share, rejoice - sharing and human concerns Needy Family Fund Thank You I wish to thank each organization and each person of our parish who responds to the needs of the Needy Family Fund. The year has been diffi cult with more people cut to part time with no benefi ts or they are out of a job which is even more diffi cult. You have responded to people who have no food, diapers, formula, laundry detergent, gas for their car, a bus pass and so much more. You help people move forward because you care! People have no resources, do not know what to do or where to go. They want to give up. YOU RESPOND! You give them HOPE! Moms who have lost daycare because of no funding available to help them, were able to continue work- ing and keep their children safe because of your support. Families who were evicted because dad was out of work, were able to start over and fi nd a place to live and get a job because of your great support. Teenagers walking with no purpose because they are homeless, found a safe haven because of your great support. THANK YOU for your great response to the needs of people of our Parish and in the Community, Know that you make a huge difference! May God's Peace and abundant Blessings be with you during the Christmas Season and in the New Year! Peace, Sister Paulanne

Mary gave birth to this perfect, tiny miracle, and then life went on. No one miraculously appeared to give her a play-by-play of how God’s plan would be carried out. Like all mothers, Mary had to wait and wonder about what was in store for her son’s future; she tried to be a good mother to Him, even knowing in her heart that she could never fully understand Him. Like all mothers, she most likely loved watching His personality develop. She shared stories about Him. She rejoiced at the sound of His laughter. He loved her, too. He knew He had come to save her. And it’s doubtful any other human loved Him more, because she was His mother, and she would have gladly died for Him. But, that’s not how God had things planned. Have you ever wondered, if Mary had known how things would turn out, if she would have told the angel to go away? Could God have chosen someone else to be His mother?

DECEMBER 25, 2016 • olphglenview.org 11 parish transformation update

The Parish Transformation Initiative For several weeks in the Spring of 2016, a team of pa- rishioners embarked on the Archdiocesan Initiative called Parish Transformation. A tool for revitalization and growth, SEEK! Parish Transformation encourages parishes to reexam- ine how they are carrying out God’s mission in the world. Because parishes are made up of people, the process SHARE! asked us to look into our own hearts and to discern if we are personally living Jesus’s message of discipleship. Our meetings were fi lled with spirited, passionate dialog that REJOICE! celebrated our parish’s many gifts while also acknowledg- ing areas where we might improve. These discussions lead to our setting goals for our entire church community to explore and together set a vision for the future of OLPH.
