Seating Capacity increased to 45 in our church We are very happy to communicate to you that the capacity in our church has been increased from 25 seats to 45 now, as we had the provision to revise risk assessment from 2 meters to 1 meter +. The diocese has approved the same, so from this week, our church can accommodate 45 people. As usual, if it is a family, you can occupy single bench to allow room for other individuals. If it is an individual from different households, then, please take your seat at the far end of each bench. As usual, face coverings are mandatory. Now that the capacity has been increased, please make sure to observe social distancing at all times, very specially as you enter and make an exit from the church. After the final hymn during weekend masses, people sitting at the back of the church will start making the exit first one be one. Those of us at the front will wait until it is convenient to do so. This applies equally to the weekday masses as well. As you are aware, for the weekend masses, we have the stewards allocated for this purpose. We very much appreciate your spontaneous offer of help to wipe the benches after the mass. But before doing so, please make sure to clarify with the stewards if they need help, as it makes the whole situation smoother and helps to maintain the distance and order. Thanks for your understanding. Look forward to your being with us in the church for the Eucharist. Thank You Words of gratitude to Catherine, Val and Fabienne for cleaning the clubroom, kitchen and toilet area. Words of gratitude to Kevin and Deacon Steve for doing the Risk Assessment of the kitchen and toilet area and also to increase the church capacity to 45 seats. Special words of thanks to Maurice and Mary for planning and putting in so much hard work for resuming the FHC course. Parish Toilet for Use Toilet will be kept open for use during the time when church is in operation whether during Mass or FHC course or any other liturgical services. Please use the side door (clubroom kitchen door) to enter, and not the club room door, and follow the special Covid-19 guidelines displayed there. Two New Auxiliary Bishops The Archdiocese of Birmingham rejoices at the episcopal ordinations of two new auxiliary bishops. The Episcopal Ordination Mass for Bishops David Evans and Stephen Wright took place today at noon in St Chad’s Cathedral, on the Feast of St John Henry Newman. This may well be the first time that two bishops have been ordained together in St Chad’s Cathedral. Archbishop Bernard Longley was principal consecrator, joined by Bishop William Kenney and Bishop David McGough alongside Bishop Patrick McKinney, Mar Joseph Srampickal and Bishop David Oakley. The Archbishop welcomed all who attended the Mass, both in person and via the livestream, saying: “we are truly united in prayer for our two ordinands.” Read more: https://www.cbcew.org.uk/birmingham-two-new-auxiliary-bishops-091020/ World Mission Sunday 18 Oct 2020 World Mission Sunday – the one day in the year when the entire global Church comes together in support of mission – is happening on 18 October with a shout of courage and faith: ‘Here I am, send me!’ This special day is celebrated in every Catholic community in the world. God works in and through every stratum of society to build community. We are instruments of God’s love and desire for unity. Rarely, except in situations of social justice, do we find ourselves in conflict with what the law asks of us and what our conscience is telling us. When we do, we must speak out, but with compassion, with love and with respect. God needs each one of us to serve the wider community, to build relationships wherever we are.
