ARIZONA STATE and UCLA have yet to suffer a loss this season, with both teams near the top of the polls as ASU came in at third and UCLA at fifth ... WASHINGTON was upset twice this past weekend, and as a result the Huskies have dropped to seventh in the rankings ... ARIZONA made another big jump after knocking off two higher-ranked opponents last weekend at the prestigious Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic ... OREGON continued its hot streak, winning 14-straight games after dropping the season opener ... Weekly honors were swept by UCLA as Bruins Mysha Sataraka and Ally Carda took home Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW). After recording just 44 victories in their fi rst three years of existence, the Bruins went 31-3 in 1978, starting and fi n ishing the season strong with victories in 14 of their fi rst 15 and 17 of their last 18. During the regular season, UCLA posted a 22-2 record, outscoring its May 4 beat Sacramento State, 1-0 (12 inn.) opponents 101-17. May 5 beat Chico State, 1-0 In her last season in her #6 UCLA uniform, future Hall of Fame coach Sue Enquist led the Bruins in hitting with a .391 batting average.
