OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ON ONE OF THE TOP FIVE CONGRESSIONAL RACES IN 2018

The Mike Levin for Congress campaign is recruiting a powerful team of students to help flip the 49th district from RED to BLUE in 2018. On top of championing strong environmental policies to combat climate change, Mike will fight for affordable higher education, universal healthcare, protecting women’s reproductive rights, preventing gun violence, and a $15 federal minimum wage. Mike Levin chased off the roof and into retirement, and is the progressive Democrat who can bring this seat home for us Democrats.

We welcome large time commitments, but ask for a minimum of 5 hours per week. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds. This internship is unpaid, but we will work with your school to provide academic credit if applicable.

EXPERIENCE - This is a chance to get in on the ground floor of a dynamic, professional congressional campaign. Interns will gain professional, political, and organizing skills and experience with the technological tools of a modern campaign. Skills gained with us are applicable in a wide variety of jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS - Basic understanding of the political process, current political climate, campaigns, and elections. Demonstrated attention to detail, and ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability and desire to work with volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Recruit, train and motivate a team of volunteer activists on and off campus. Build the campaign’s list of supporters through phone-banking and canvassing. Coordinate volunteer events and help manage logistics, preparation, and attendance. Help manage and process data. Participate in trainings on grassroots organizing, skill-building, and leadership development.

MIKE LEVIN was raised in South Orange County, where he attended public elementary and junior high schools. He spent his high school years in at Loyola High and then went to , where he was honored to serve as student body president. After college, he served in the Coro Fellows Program and then attended Duke University School of Law. Mike works as an environmental attorney, and has over a decade of experience in the clean energy industry. His focus has been on accelerating the transition towards more sustainable power generation and transportation options. He sits on the board of the Center for Sustainable Energy, based in , and co-founded Sustain OC in Orange County. For his work in clean energy, he was named to the OC METRO 40 under 40. He lives in San Juan Capistrano with his wife, Chrissy, a graduate of the University of Arizona and Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his two children, ages 5 and 3.
