The utilisation of our health care services by every citizen when he/she needs them, the elimination of regional inequalities, and recognising and raising the health level of our people are some of our basic aims. Through the establishment and management of health information as required, health care services can be directed and monitored in line with our aims. (Dr. H. It has been very difficult to get advice both in the scientific part of the research and in how to emotionally face the enormous suffering of people. Most of the support I have got came from the Kurds. Whether slumdwellers in Amed or intellectuals and top politicians in Europe, they have encouraged me and been thankful to me for my interest in their people in undertaking this research. Although many Kurds have confided in me, their thankfulness has surprised, even irritated me. In these modern times it should be self-evident, not a special gesture to be thankful for, that in Europe the situation of people living under armed conflict is surveyed. My lisenciate dissertation "Health care in the shadow of cultural genocide in Turkish part of Kurdistan" was a draft of this research, here the empirical part is quite the same, but I go further in the theoretical part and in explaining the situation. Many discussions with my sister Tarja Tiainen have helped me to formulate the research questions in fresh ways. Kurds have helped me to understand their situation by explaining both large and small issues to me, and by researching information and creating contacts. As I can not speak Kurdish, and know only elementary Turkish, they have translated both interviews and written material for me.     Armenian Involvement in the 1925-1946 Kurdish Rebellions in Republican Turkey: Trying to Map the Origins of “Hidden Armenians By: GARABET K MOUMDJIAN Abstract: The history of Armenian-Kurdish relations extends over centuries. In the 1800’s, Armenians were involved in the Kurdish rebellions in Kurdistan proper. The rebellions were crushed by Ottoman military might.1 After the Armenian Genocide of 1915, a new phase of Armenian involvement in yet a new episode of Kurdish rebellions ensued in Republican Turkey. This new collusion lasted all the way to the late 1930s. The aim of the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation, AKA Tashnagtsutyune) at the time was twofold: Dispersion into the Middle East was considered to be a temporary sojourn and the ARF was adamant in its thinking that Armenians should repatriate to their historic homeland. The ARF attempted such an adventurous plan due to its knowledge that many pockets of Armenians—ergo, what would later become known as “Hidden Armenians”—existed in the Eastern Provinces of the newly established Turkish Republic. Toward the end of World War II there was some optimism that the Soviet Union could reoccupy some of the historical Western Armenian lands and incorporate them into the Soviet Armenian Republic. The ARF, regardless of its ideological opposition to the Soviet Union at the time, agreed to a détente with its arch-enemy for such a nascent purpose. Having access to archival material from republican Turkey, the Soviet Union, Armenia, France, Britain, as well as the memoirs and letters of some prominent ARF leaders involved in the Kurdish rebellions of the time creates a unique opportunity to present a more detailed account about the period under.

It was really an interesting statement to me; it made me think of two things, the first one is the intention behind this statement, while the second was the attitude of Kurds, especially Kurd musicians, towards researchers and researching. As for the first thing, I felt that there was a problem, maybe a social or psychological, of the Kurdish people in general, and the musicians in particular.

This centre is specified in collecting, maintaining and republishing old Kurdish newspapers and magazines, Kurdish documents and foreign documents that are particular about the Kurdish nation and their homeland. The centre looks after manuscripts and books written by Kurdish authors in the past time. It also works hard to recollect scattered products of famous Kurdish writers, the memories of foreign experts and the references that take on the Kurdish history, demography and culture. The centre also pays similar attention to the documents that concern the neighbouring countries because of the common history and mutual interests. Besides, the centre has established a library and an index system of its huge collection to facilitate the works of the scholars and researchers. The centre occupies a four storey building of over one thousand square meters. By the end of the 2011, 142 books of which forty of them are in Arabic, four in Persian and the rest is in Kurdish. Three issues of Zheen magazine have also been published, beside the Kurdish language Arabic and Persian has used. It has also three centres for manuscripts, documents and antiquities. A special hall is specified for old photography for celebrities. A great number of documents, photos, manuscripts, magazines, newspapers and books have collected and digitalized.

At the moment of writing, the strategy, targeted towards both the majority and the minority populations, is on the verge of becoming implemented within all the municipal administrations and the whole municipal system of governance, so it is still to tell how much it will influence and change the current situation in the municipality. Population and demographics Botkyrka is a municipality with many faces. We are the most diverse municipality in Sweden. Between 2010 and 2012 the proportion of inhabitants with a foreign background increased to 55 % overall, and to 65 % among all children and youngsters (aged 0–18 years) in the municipality.2 55 % have origin in some other country (one self or two parents born abroad) and Botkyrka is the third youngest population among all Swedish municipalities.3 Botkyrka has always been a traditionally working-class lower middle-class municipality, but the inflow of inhabitants from different parts of the world during half a decade, makes this fact a little more complex.

    Kurdish Identity-Making: Instruments and Possibilities During the Last 100 Years in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey

    Kurdish identity-making: instruments and possibilities during the last 100 years in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey The research is based on a historical, comparative analysis of the Kurdish nation-building process. Three different periods are included in the comparison. First of all, the end of Ottoman Empire (meaning the beginning of Kurdish initiatives) and Atatürk’s era is presented. The second part makes an attempt to analyse the new wave of Kurdish revival process from the 60’s (doguculuk) and the appearance of Kurdish armed groups, as well as the rise of PKK. The final part focuses on the contemporary developments, by putting an emphasis on the AKP-led government’s era which created a new atmosphere in order to solve this Kurdish question by launching a programme called ‘Kürt acilimi’. This paper endeavours to mark the cornerstones and features of the Kurdish nation-building process, by emphasizing the role of the creation of myth, traditions, and history: how the different generations of Kurds tried to establish a common culture. The comparison emphasizes the multifaceted features of the process and tries to prove that ‘nations are repeatedly formed and re-formed.’ In its focal point there are issues such as the role of Newroz, the national anthem, the flag, or even the history. The theoretical framework used in this comparative study – which analyses the hundred-year-long historical background of the process – is essentially based on the nationalism theory of Anthony D. Smith. Therefore, first and foremost, the main concepts which this comparison intends to use shall be presented.
