From June 18 to 20, 2021, Data for Progress Conducted a Survey of 1,291 Likely New York City Democratic Primary Voters Using SMS Respondents From June 18 to 20, 2021, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 1,291 likely New York City Democratic primary voters using SMS respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of the likely Democratic primary electorate by age, gender, education, race, borough, and voting history; and has been weighted to the election-night comptroller results. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±3 percentage points. NB: subgroups with a n-size less than 25 (<25) are not shown on these cross-tabs. We choose not to display N<25 subgroups because the sample is too small to have statistical significance. We did, however, take samples of these subgroups for representational and weighting purposes to accurately reflect the electorate makeup. Some values may not add up to 100 due to rounding. My two main priorities for my first year in office will be a quick and equitable recovery for NYC and returning the Comptroller role to someone who is a true fiscal watchdog for the City. A quick and universally beneficial economic recovery which works for all New Yorkers-not just those at the top- will be my number one priority as Comptroller. Without a stable, long-lasting, and universally beneficent pandemic recovery, none of the other positive policies I plan to embark on will be feasible. To achieve this we will attack the fiscal deficit from a variety of angles. First, we will use the pensions' ETI as seed funds for small and minority run businesses across the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic to include: restaurants and bars, theaters, the arts, development, etc. Next, we will streamline the process for opening a business in New York City. Currently there are over 6,000 rules and 250 related regulations, which hinders the ability for small businesses to succeed in the post-pandemic recovery.
