ROJAS, A WORLD INDOOR CHAMPION IN INTERNATIONAL MEETING

2016 Madrid International Athletics Meeting, included in the IAAF circuit of one‐day athletics meetings to be disputed next 23th June in Moratalaz Municipality Sport Complex, continues increasing its stars list. The last one in adding to the Meeting is world indoor champion, the athlete from Yulimar Rojas. Rojas will participate in the Madrilenian Meeting, organized by the Spanish Federation along with Madrid City Council, looking to better her shape ahead from Rio2016 Olympics, where she will fight for medals. Triple jumper from Venezuela was one of the surprises of the past winter, after winning the gold medal in Portland World Indoor Championships with 14,41 metres. Rojas train in Madrid with former Olympic and World champion Cuban Ivan Pedroso. In the outdoor season she has started with a windy 14,92 metres in Doha Meeting along with other legal jump of 14,79 metres. In this moment she is in the second place of the 2016 world lists only behind Colombian Ibargüen. The athlete from Venezuela will be the main reference of this event, being her main rivals Portuguese Patricia Mamona, silver European medalist in 2012 with a personal best of 14,52 metres this same year; Brazilian Kaila Costa, bronze world indoor medal in 2010 (personal best of 14,58 metres); or Spanish Ana Peleteiro, Barcelona2012 world junior champion (her personal best is 14,17). Madrilenian Meeting will be one of the last opportunities to achieve the qualification standards for the two main competitions of the summer, European Championships in Amsterdam and Rio2016 . So, the presence of the main stars of athletics in Spain is guaranteed. In the next days we will continue offering the main names of the protagonists.
