    France and the Dissolution of Yugoslavia Christopher David Jones, MA, BA (Hons.) In addition, any quotation or extract must include full attribution.” Abstract This thesis examines French relations with Yugoslavia in the twentieth century and its response to the federal republic’s dissolution in the 1990s. In doing so it contributes to studies of post-Cold War international politics and international diplomacy during the Yugoslav Wars. It utilises a wide-range of source materials, including: archival documents, interviews, memoirs, newspaper articles and speeches. Many contemporary commentators on French policy towards Yugoslavia believed that the Mitterrand administration’s approach was anachronistic, based upon a fear of a resurgent and newly reunified Germany and an historical friendship with Serbia; this narrative has hitherto remained largely unchallenged. Whilst history did weigh heavily on Mitterrand’s perceptions of the conflicts in Yugoslavia, this thesis argues that France’s Yugoslav policy was more the logical outcome of longer-term trends in French and Mitterrandienne foreign policy. Furthermore, it reflected a determined effort by France to ensure that its long-established preferences for post-Cold War security were at the forefront of European and international politics; its strong position in all significant international multilateral institutions provided an important platform to do so.

    ZAKON O NACIONALNOM PARKU „DRINA“ Član 1. Ovim zakonom uređuju se granice, zone i režimi zaštite, pitanja upravljanja, zaštite i razvoja Nacionalnog parka „Drina“ (u daljem tekstu: Nacionalni park). Član 2. Nacionalni park je područje izuzetnih prirodnih vrijednosti, koje čini klisurasto- kanjonska dolina rijeke Drine kao jedna od najznačajnijih riječnih dolina Republike Srpske, sa brojnim staništima endemičnih i reliktnih biljnih vrsta, te izuzetnim diverzitetom flore i faune, koje je namijenjeno očuvanju postojećih prirodnih vrijednosti i resursa, ukupne pejzažne, geološke i biološke raznovrsnosti, kao i zadovoljenju naučnih, obrazovnih, duhovnih, estetskih, kulturnih, turističkih, zdravstveno-rekreativnih potreba i ostalih aktivnosti u skladu sa načelima zaštite prirode i održivog razvoja. Član 3. Na pitanja od značaja za zaštitu, razvoj, unapređivanje, upravljanje, finansiranje, kaznene odredbe i održivo korišćenje Nacionalnog parka koja nisu uređena ovim zakonom primjenjuju se posebni propisi kojim se uređuju pitanja nacionalnih parkova, zaštite prirode i drugi zakoni i podzakonski akti kojima se reguliše ova oblast. Član 4. (1) Nacionalni park prostire se na području opštine Srebrenica u ukupnoj površini od 6.315,32 hektara. (2) Opis spoljne granice Nacionalnog parka: Početna tačka opisa granice obuhvata Nacionalnog parka je u tromeđi opština Srebrenica, Višegrad i Rogatica (tačka A). Granica ide ka sjeveroistoku do tromeđe opština Srebrenica, Višegrad i Bajine Bašte u Srbiji (tačka B). Od tačke A do tačke B, granica ide jezerom Perućac, odnosno granicom između opština Srebrenica i Višegrad. Od tromeđe opština Srebrenica, Višegrad i Bajine Bašte u Srbiji (tačka B), granica ide do krune brane Perućac (tačka V). Od tačke B do tačke V, granica ide jezerom Perućac, odnosno granicom između Bosne i Hercegovine i Srbije.

The project is exploring how national and international interventions have and have not been effective in fostering and sustaining political deals and elite bargains; and whether or not these political deals and elite bargains have helped reduce violence, increased local, regional and national stability and contributed to the strengthening of the relevant political settlement. Introduction This text aims at to understand what kind of country Bosnia-Herzegovina was in 1992 when the war broke-out, and to what extent the ethnic groups living in it identified themselves with the state and with each other. What did really mean to be a Bosnian? To answer those questions we decided to study the evolution of ethnic relations in Bosnia- Herzegovina and the role played by ethnic elites in different historical contexts from a historic sociological perspective, focusing our attention on: the relationship between ethnic groups and power holders; the impact of that relation in the ethnic groups relations; the development of group identity and its forms of expression; and on the evolution of the Muslim question, since the emergence during the Ottoman period of a Muslim community endowed with a separate and particular group identity. 2. OSMANOVIC Ph.D. 2015 ABSTRACT Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Yugoslavia was entangled in a fratricidal break-up. In none of the other former Yugoslav republics did the conflict turn as violent as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which suffered genocide, the greatest number of victims and the highest percentage of infrastructural destruction. Although its three ethnic communities – Muslims, Serbs and Croats – were previously well integrated, the break-up of Yugoslavia exposed Bosnia’s unique Islamic component, which both Serbs and Croats perceived to be the major impediment to the continuation of a pluralistic society. Islam, however, only turned into a divisive and decisive factor in the conflict when combined with ethnic nationalism. Previous research into the causes of the 1992-95 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the break-up of Yugoslavia has identified Bosnia’s long Islamic heritage and large Muslim population on the doorstep of Europe as specific features influencing both its rationale and resolution. Yet there has been no analysis of the role and impact of ‘neo-Islam’ (a term I explained below) in the conflict – an omission this thesis seeks to redress. The thesis uses historical analysis to demonstrate that Bosnia and Herzegovina was frequently subject to international intervention during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it explores whether the unique Islamic component was the reason behind this phenomenon, and seeks to comprehend why Bosnia and Herzegovina has always appeared to pose a problem for the international community, from the papal persecutions of the medieval Bogumils through to the present day.

Pojedini djelovi opštine su bolje povezani sa Republikom Srbijom i sa drugim područjima Bosne i Hercegovine, nego sa urbanim centrom. Do opštine postoje samo putne komunikacije. Prema tome opština Srebrenica spada u saobraćajno slabo povezanu opštinu. Srebrenica je pored regionalnih putnih pravaca (Bratunac-Skelani, Bratunac-Srebrenica-Skelani i Zeleni Jadar-Milići) prije rata imala izrazito razvijenu putno-komunikacionu mrežu makadamskih lokalnih - opštinskih seoskih puteva, koji su se koristili za potrebe stanovništva, turizma, lovnog turizma i privrede.
