Every child has a dream. But children who were brought up living a less privileged life don’t have the courage to pursue theirs, believing that their future is limited by their life’s circumstances.

That is what My Dream in a Shoebox envisions to change. We want to bring the dreamers back by providing not only the tools for learning but to also empower these children to pursue a bright future through education.

For the 11th consecutive year, TeamAsia brings you My Dream in a Shoebox, an advocacy campaign of individuals and organizations committed to meet the educational needs of underprivileged children in the country.

With the support of our generous partners and sponsors, we’re able to gather 72,634 shoeboxes with school supplies and Php 400,000 cash donations in 2018. These shoeboxes were given to public schools, foundations and communities all over the . Cash donations allowed us to provide financial educational assistance to 110 scholars from 11 communities across the country and bring joy to more than 3,000 children during our December gift-giving days.

Our goal is to continue to equip more children towards a better future by:

Below are three ways that you can help the campaign:

1. Cash Donations

a. Adopt a community! Help us provide educational assistance to underprivileged elementary children from different communities nationwide. For only P30,000 you can already provide school supplies, uniform and allowance to 10 scholars. b. Cash donations for gift-giving day activities and campaign promotions.

2. Shoebox Donations

You may engage your team in decorating shoeboxes and filling them with school supplies but you may also order materials directly from the National Bookstore Foundation specifically for My Dream in a Shoebox.

a. Create D-I-Y Shoeboxes

Get an empty shoebox and fill this with the following school supplies: two (2) notebooks, one (1) pad paper, two (2) pens, two (2) pencils, one (1) eraser, one (1) box of crayons, one (1) ruler, and one (1) bottle of glue. Make your shoebox special by separately wrapping the lid and box with colorful recycled paper or Christmas wrappers. For safety and security, please keep your shoebox open.

b. Order your school supplies from National Bookstore Foundation

National Bookstore Foundation (NBF) is now our partner. Aside from offering special packages and discounted rates for school supplies, they also offer free delivery to offices within Metro . You have the option to buy supplies for Grades 1-3 or Grades 4-6. For every shoebox with school supplies purchased from NBF, they will add one Project Aral Kit with two (2) composition notebooks, two (2) pencils, one (1) sharpener, one (1) eraser and a pair of slippers, for free! That’s basically giving more at no cost!
