Special Needs This collection supports pastoral programs as awarded by the Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America *Combined Collection throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Projects included the work of evangelization, formation of , religious Church in Latin America, and seminarians, as well as youth ministry and catechesis. Funding is limited to programmatic expenses and excludes Church in Europe, building construction except in cases of emergency. Solidarity Fund for Eastern Europe This collection also provides aid by the Subcommittee on Aid to the Church in Central and Church in Africa Eastern Europe through bishops' conferences of Central and Eastern Europe and the ex-Soviet Union to meet the needs of rebuilding the Church. It focuses on training seminarians and lay leaders, supporting service programs, youth ministry, pastoral and catechetical centers, schools, church construction and renovation, and evangelization through Catholic media. Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa - Provides grants to finance pastoral projects rthat support the maintenance and growth of the Church in Africa. Funded projects include outreach programs, schools, evangelization, and education of clergy and lay ministers. This collection provides funding fro Catholic Relief Services; the USCCB Offices of International Justice (formerly the American Bishops and Peace, Migration and Reugee Services, and Pastoral Care for Migrants and Refugees; relief work Oversees Appeal) of the Holy Father; and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. Holy Land Collects funds for support of the Holy Places, but above all for those pastoral, charitable, educational Pontifical Good Friday Collection and social works which the Church supports in the Holy Land for the welfare of their Christian brethren and for the Holy Land of the local communities.

Catholic Communication The esential mission of the CCC is to contribute to the process of evangelization by fostering Campaign activities in relation to television, radio, internet, and other media, and through special projects of the Catholic press. An annual collection is taken up in the dioceses, which remit 50% of the funds collected to the National Office. From these funds, grants are made by the USCCB Subcommittee on the Catholic Communication Campaign. It likewise provides the faithful with a tangible opportunity to not only empower the weak, defenseless, and voiceless, but also sustain those who suffer.

Native American & Black Missions Mandated by the III Plenary Council in 1884, the 125 year old National Collection for Native American and Black people continues as the embodiment of the Church's concern for evangelizaing these ethnic groups of the United States. The funds are distributed as gants to dioceses throughout the U.S., supporting and strengthening evangelization programs which otherwise would cease.

The Catholic University Provides funding for academic scholarships at The Catholic Univeristy of America in Washington, D.C. in response to the commitment made by the bishops at its foundation in 1887. It is the only U.S. university with Pontifical faculties. Students are enrolled from all 50 states and almost 100 counties in 12 schools.

Gospel of Life - Virtue Media The goal of this diocesan appeal is to collect funds so that the of Phoenix can cintinue its mission to uphold the right-to-life of all people from conception to natural death. Since 2011, funds collected from the appeal have been split and used for three different purposes. 1. respect life activities: 1/3 of the funds collected at a parish will remain with the parish and are to be used for parish Respect Life activities at the pastor's discretion. 2. Diocesan educational projects: 1/3 of the funds will support the work of the Office of Marriage and Respect Life as they educate Catholics on pro-life issues and mobilize them to take action in their community. 3. Virtue Media Advertising: 1/3 of the funds will continue our Virtue Media advertising campaign. These ads reach out to young women experiencing an unintended pregnancy and connect them hrough a toll-free number to a local pregnancy center ready to help them choose life for their unborn children.

World Mission /Sunday In 1926 Pius XI instituted Mission Sunday for the whole Church with the first worldwide Mission Sunday collection taking place in October, 1927. The Mission Sunday collection is always taken on the next to last Sunday during the month of October. That day is celebrated in all the local Churches as the feast of and universal solidarity so Christians the world over will recognize their common responsibility with regard to the evangelization of the world.

Campaign for Human Development This Collection addresses the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of CCHD community-controlled, self-help organizations and transformative education. Grants are awarded by the Subcommittee on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development with the approval of local bishops.

Retirement Fund for Priests On a national level 50% of this appela provides funding to qualified religious institutes in the U.S. and Religious Approved by the conferences of major superiors and bishops, it distributes funds based on a financial formula and criteria. 50% of the funds received for this appeal remains in the Diocese of Phoenix to assist with the needs of senior diocesan priests in their retirement years.
